Tornado Air System

Has anyone tried one of these Tornando Air Management Systems ?

http://www.tornadofuelsaver.com/

It is a little device- no moving parts- that goes in between your air filter and the carburator and the fins create a tornado like swirl of the intake gas which supposedly increases HP and gas mileage.

On other BB's I saw mixed reviews. Some people said it worked while others said it was a ripoof for $69.00 and you could make your own once you saw what it looked like. Maybe that is why the Tornando web site doesn't show a good picture with any detail of thier product. Also the on-line video of the product (which must run for close to 25 minutes) shows a price of $24 at the end of the video. I forgot to ask them about that when I called them.

I called them and they are running 3-4 weeks delivery (as their web site states) because they have a lot of orders coming in.

I saw an infomercial for that product and all it is is a piece of aluminum with these little fins inside what looks like a cookie cutter. I don't know how this could increase mpg or Hp but they had the dyno sheets to prove it. I have no idea if it's any good or not.

I did put one of these on my Jeep, but I also put a K&N filter in at the same time.I did feel a noticable difference in acceleration , but not sure if it was the filter or the tornado.
I got mine at http://www.4wd.com they had them in stock last week.

It increases gas milage by choking the carberator, making it look smaller.
It increases the HP by sandbagging the 'origional numbers'

This was tested by a consumer group (can't remember which one).

It does nothing.

Except take your money. http://www.corvetteforum.cc/zeroimg/smilies/crying.gif

I really can't see how swirling the air above the carburator venturis can improve anything. Certainly there won't be a tornado rushing down into your cylinders after the air passes through the venturis.
We tried it on my buddy's Pontiac LeMans. He swears it improved his gas mileage. We tried it at the strip several times off and on the same day and it did NOTHING!

Some guys buy things that don't work or help & convince themselves it is "better". When I was a kid, some guy in another town tried to sell me some "special" J.C.W. sparkplugs. I managed not to laugh until they left.

A guy on the 4th gen f-body mailing list dynoed one and lost power.
