Un-Selling my ZR1
 

Had it up for sale, got some half way decent offers and a couple close.
It is still at 24.5K, no less, and I am not enthused about letting it go anyway. When the last guy turned it down because I would not lower my price, I had a sense of relief.

...to back off of your price!! Yours is too clean to let it go, now go give it a hug & take it out for a blast to clear out the cobb webs from the secondaries...it will remind you why we bought these in the first place. :D

Funny, how people will nickel and dime you on a quality car but they will shell out $18-22K all day long for a POS ZR-1 on ebay :willy:

Let him pay his $22,000 and then find out that he has to put another $3,000 in it for maintenance and parts.

Your car has very low mileage, is like a new ZR-1 and you recently did all the maintenance. :cheers:

Wow, I thought you had a solid deal. Sounds like you would really rather keep it.

Just went through that with my 89, guy offered more than it was worth, but for some reason it just felt wrong. Even though I could use the space, etc I get more enjoyment and fun out of driving it. I think you'd have an awful hard time replacing it, some of the lomilers out there still show their age.

Thing happen for a reason. Enjoy it like you always did. Great looking car, looks even better sitting in your driveway

There is only one more hurdle to cross. One of the forum members was waiting to see what the Hilton Head dude was going to do. HH decided to do something else at the last minute.
Wife thinks I am nuts to sell it anyway. She sez, why don't you keep one for a while.
Right. I just went down to the Toyota dealer Saturday and plunked down an 18 large deposit, ordered her a 2006 Solara SLE convertible, frost white, looks like pearl, satellite only option, and that is about it, comes loaded. She's cool and redhead, double cool. :D :D

Thanks for the support, and if the forum member don't take it, it will stay till I go for a red ZR1. I just like red, but this black one was too nice to pass up.
How can I replace it?

I don't want to put the forum members name up here, as if he takes it, he may want to surprise you guys. So now, it stays.

If you still own it 5 or 10 years from now and little has changed from a condition and minor milage standpoint... it may to turn out to one of the best "no sale" deals you ever made. :D

All I can say with any certainty is this... though ZR-1s are not the fastest accelerating, turning, and braking sports cars on the road... they are a bit stealthy, ( for those that don't subscribe to the latest "bling bling" lifestyle ) deceptively fast on the big end, and pretty trick looking under the hood compared to most anything else out there. Therein lies the dilemma... what can you buy for $24,500 that has the durability, performance, and classiness of a ZR-1 ? IMHO, the 24 HR record still looms large... I still don't see a production car "contending" for the record of 16 years ago... and that point alone makes it a "legend" in the eyes of those that appreciate how high the bar was set...
Keep your car and wait to see what opinions of the future have to say... Your car has might have auction houses begging you to bring your car to them in 20 years... time will tell...

You are right. Remember the 1969 Camaro's, etc. I can't believe the price range of some of these cars now. I get up early, and get to the BJ auctions. Big bucks.

the cash will come and go. the lust for th zr-1 will remain.

your car is worth more to you than the $$$ keep it that way.

the ride is pristine and you will miss the zr-1 long after the cash from the sale is spent.

:iagree: Intrisnic value. Can't buy it. Every Vette I have sold, a little bit of me went with it. I always sold to buy another. Same thing back when I was doing SS Chevelles.

Wanted to sell and glad I held on. My car has got my name on it. I know exactly how it feels. (Really, Not very Good) You would like to have the cash and get rid of it, but its a lot of bang for the buck and it's just cool.

I feel like I know about it, I've spent tons of time reading about it, I've been reading this forum for years and I guess I just don't want to throw it all away. I sure would like to simplify it though...The fuel injection alone is a nightmare on this car...I won't go on, but I guess I'll continue to be one of us.

I can tell you one thing though, without the support of the forum and the ZR1net, no way, It would have been gone a long time ago. Maybe it's like being a farmer with an old pig he just can't bring himself to kill because he loves it too much.

We have to continue to take good care of the babies, they are still worth it.
