Engine washing tips?
Hey All...
I'd like to wash the motor in my 1994 vette but frankly am a little intimidated by all the horror stories I've heard of optispark failures, check engine lights and such. Does anybody have any advice? Also, when I was detailing cars when I was a kid we used to spray the engines down with silicon (WD40) to disperse water and leave a nice shine. Does anybody think this is a bad idea? TIA |

Here's the best washing tip you'll get: Don't.
Rub it, wipe it, "whatever" it, just don't spray water on it! :seeya |

I'd have to agree...keep H2O away! Just go with hand wiping and clean it that way, but don't get water near that optispark...

Heres my suggestion, get some Tire black (or shine, it's gotta have petroleum distilates), spray it on a rag, then wipe your engine compartment clean. It works, and the black shine LASTS...

I have to agree...stay away from the H2O. Water is bad for ya, It will even cause hangovers if you mix it with alcohol  Even if you use Ice with your favorite alcoholic beverage you must drink it very fast to keep the ice from melting and adding that hangover inducing liquid :bs to your drink

It's easy! Just remember to remove the Optispark first!

I've never hosed mine down, I always wipe it with a cloth or a rag or somethinghttp://www.corvetteforum.cc/ubb/smile.gif
