IF,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, GM put in any of the recalls, you could have the crappy GM Relay installed between the Column Lock and the BCM

They are well known to crap out.

NOTE! If you have a column lock issue, the engine SHOULD still crank and run but, the engine will STALL if the car move the slightest bit (2mph fuel cut off safety)

WHAT is the SECURITY LIGHT on the IPC doing? Key On = ????????

If you have a VATs issue, the car WILL NOT CRANK/START?RUN and the security light will either FLASH or stay on.. :(

Clear all DTC and re read and post what you have..

No Security issue shown on dash and can't go any further with Dash codes or resets. It will not let me get past the "Remove Key - Wait 10 SC"

Look under the steering column and find the tiny 4 pin connector for the Column Lock Motor assy. See if GM installed the relay assembly that they call the CLB

IT can and will fail..... It looks like this. Remove it and reconnect the tiny connector back together and see if anything changes.

It looks like this:

OK... Found the connections as prompted by you. I un-plugged both of them and re-plugged them back together. No Change in Dash Message.

My steering is not locked at this time... just keep getting Pull Key Wait 10 Sec.:crazy2:

Bill, I noticed that you said it WILL fail. I assume that you mean that even under normal circumstances it will fail. If that happens, what would be the solution to that? I realize this question is slightly off-topic, I surely wouldn't want to irritate other participants on this thread, so I would not be opposed to moving this to PM. Thanks.

Post #69 is the best alternative. Remove the GM K harness completely because inside it most likely looks like this:

http://media.motortopia.com/files/17...l_CLrelay2.jpg

Plug the male connector from the lock motor, that was plugged into the K Harness female connector, into the female connector that is attached to the bottom of the dash so that you can get the column unlocked. Then get and install the LMC5 and do the "optional" procedure described on page 2 of the LMC5 install instructions at the same time you do the LMC5 install..

??? My column is not lock?

All seems to be working after handshake with BCM. I do have another issue... the HVAC Climate Control the lights can't be seen at all.... Only if the headlights are on... but very very Dim.

Very common failure on the C5. Google "C5 dim climate control" and you will get back dozens of hits including some on this Forum. Here is one from this Forum:

There are others.

100% AGREE!!

There are hundreds of vids on the issue and how to repair. A little technical soldering on some resisrors.

Did you find the GM Relay harness between the column lock harness connectors????

Another issue that will cause the HVAC module to have issues is a failed Ignition Switch (dirty contacts).. I would check the resistors on the board inside the module first.

YES... After the handshake with BCM.... We were still in security mode at 2mpg. We than put key in door lock and turned a few times... and it gave us a green light to move the car. The only fix,was a ground wire from the BCM to the ground junction box.

The Climate Control lights, are really dim. Question: Do those, lights for display come on slowly after you turn on the car... or after you turn on ...like the AC? I can't remember.

Mine... I think is,off until I choose a funtion.

I did see, some vids on resistors resolder.

They come on when the car is turned on. FWIW, in 2004 I did the resoldering of my hvac lights on my 2001, and haven't had a problem since.

No it is NOT the BCM!

Why are you telling that person it is the BCM. The fuze box is the BCM. He is asking what is next to the BCM.
