Power Washing Engine

Anyone ever heard of doing this? My buddy said it works great, just keep the car running with the engine warm. I thought that water all over the electrical stuff in there would be kind of bad. Any thoughts?

just remember water "can" easily get into places that you dont want it to get into it. I would error on the side of caution and spot clean when possible. If you must, get some ziplocks as you must cover coils, distributors, air intakes, on other items or you might be looking at a repair bill.

I really dont want to use any water at all, Im afraid ill mess something up, what do you recommend for engine detailing products

Especially if iti s a C-6 Corvette with all of those sensors and electronics/computers. I have had good luck with Gunk but that is on another car and yet I still have to be careful as I once caused a short in that one.

How does this sound for a plan:

Don't use high pressure water, I'm thinking of getting aluminum foil on all electrical parts and on the intake. Have engine warm, but not hot. Spray simple green or other cleaner and let sit for a few minutes. Get a bucket filled with water and just use a cup to dump water in to the engine bay (i don't have access to a hose)

Let engine and sun dry the car. Use protectant on rubber/plastic etc.

I have hosed my engine several times with light water and soap and have never had a problem. Just don't use a lot of pressure in electrical areas. I wouldn't recommed doing this on every washing you give the car though, lol.
