Spray on clear bra??? Check this out!

Below are links to products that are supposed to be sprayed on clear bras for paint protection.

Has anyone heard of, or had experience, with any of these?

Hmm, very interesting! I've heard of this stuff but don't know of anyone using it yet.

I've used it on my bald head to give it a shine... :jester

I am going to give the duplicolor a try. I am tired of the PITA of installing a bra and taking it off after an interstate road trip.

KENZ51 03-22-2006 08:16 AM

says it lasts for months? not good enough for my C6!

Paulct 03-22-2006 08:42 AM

Crap, wasted my time in this thread, did not realize you meant a bra for cars!

That's a good one!

vettey 03-23-2006 03:06 AM

A friend of mine used it after he picked up his car from the dealership, and had it removed and clear bra'd a few days afterwards.

Why not spray it on for the road trip and then just peel it off when you return?

JWB ZO6 03-23-2006 12:39 PM

:iagree: I think the product would work fine for road trips.

I am about selling the pro. pray on bra which will last just like the clear paint coat.
Not spray cans like these.

That's some interesting stuff. I think we will see spray on car bras going mainstream before long.

Watch out for the Duplicolor rattlecan one. It probably works as claimed, but they don't claim it gives chip resistance. There isn't enough material in acouple of rattlecans to give real chip protection to the front of acar. The bras need to be thick compared to normal paint to give enough cushioning effect to work.

Use it on your side view mirrors to prevent rock chips.

"Clean surface with a wax and grease remover."

Stripping the wax and rewaxing would be a bit time consuming.

The Quick Peel looks like “Shrink Rap” and appears to thin to provide any real protection from stones. I’ll stick with my $650 clear bra install!

Save the Wave :flag:

It's too bad they don't recommend a finished application thickness and give the sq ft of coverage for a qt or gallon. That does make it sound like maybe it's thin enough that they don't want to talk about it.

I still think it will evolve into something good. There are a lot more talented painters than there are clear bra installers.
