Tac mod keeps blowing fuses. This happen to anyone else?

It keeps blowing the number 17 fuse (15amp) when I floor the car. Anyone have any ideas? I am taking it to the dealer on Monday. Also when I change the fuse the check engine graphic on the dash stays on.

Tac module is a computer that controls the throttle among other things (I think). It was replaced once already. Basically I have no accelerator. Kind of hard to drive the car with no accelerator.

Wildwolf, how much did the dealer charge you to replace the tac mod ? I'm curious because i think the dealer overcharged me.

wildwolf or anyone, also I've had a terrible intermittent problem which has happened 5 times or so over the past few months, the dealer fixes it, the car is ok for a while usally a week or 10 days, then it happens :mad :mad the car will not start. it seems to have plenty juice but it just dies as it starts, seems similar to yours, well i checked the #17 fuse and afew others and they are fine  any other thoughts :cry

Hi there,
First thing is first, the blowing of the #17 fuse could be related to a stretched wiring harness, which goes from the fuse mentioned, past the engine, under the battery, and into the TAC module, located next to the PCM.
Now, the wire will have to be traced, as if it is being pulled in one direction, and grounding out, which is what blows the fuse. So it has to be dropping on metal of some kind, a frame part, or the head, or whatever.
As for the other issue, of starting and stalling, I would check to see if you have any codes in the PCM, particularly P1626, and in some cases, P1631, depending on which way you go.
Best to all, c4c5

Thanks C4C5- I will mention that to the mechanic. The dealership does not charge me to replace the Tac module- it is under warranty. It is a real PIA when it blows though. 5mph if i don't have a spare fuse. I think I will load up on them today just in case it keeps blowing on the way to the dealer. C4C5- do you have any idea why this would blow only when I floor the car? If it (wire) were touching the frame wouldn't it blow all the time?

Sounds like when the motor is torqued, the harness is grounding on something causing the short,as C4C5 indicated...
