The Grond Chronicles : Tuning Mod Party today [Dialup: untold woe]

Stangkiller (Chris) came over so we could tune his supercharged C5. Since the installation last month, there have been quite a few changes, and the tune he had prior to the blower was not very good to begin with.

Using EFI Live, we spent last night and most of today tuning. The end result is a Vette that pulls like a freight train - what a rush under boost. Idle quality is good, part and full throttle is smooth, and boost comes on linearly and kicks serious posterior!

We also installed speed bleeders in Grond and bled the brakes. Then JeepTJ (Fred) came over and went for a ride in first Stangkiller car and then Grond. I will let JeepTJ post his personal impressions of that experience :D

Here are the pics from today

Working on Grond (again) and Stangkiller working on his tune.

Just kidding - hard at work on scan, log then tune.

Scan & log time - for part throttle, cruise and idle.

New speed bleeders from Ecklers - sweet! Now bleeding the brakes is a one man job.

looks sweet

what are 'speed bleeders' (as in, how do they work) (and how long/hard to install em?)

(looking for abit more than 'ummmm bleeds the brake lines, quickly') :lolg:

They are like the regular brake bleeders, but they have a one way valve in them which stops air getting back into the brake system. So with a vacuum pump tool, one person can bleed their brakes without having to have a helper pump the brakes. :yesnod:

Install is 5 minutes, once you have the car jacked up and the wheels removed. Just remove the OEM bleeders and replace with the speed bleeders.

Then bleed the brakes

StuzVette 05-13-2006 09:27 PM

what about the tune...? ...how'd it go for you two

Stangkiller 05-13-2006 09:27 PM

Hey Stephen,
Thanks again for all the help! I can't believe we finally got it, I def. was beginning to get discouraged for a while. But we nailed it, and it pulls HARD! As i told you on the phone, the 335's didn't hold when i nailed the throttle coming off the onramp.

It was also great seeing you again Fred!
Chris

Well, as compared to the cruise we went on before. I'm running 4lbs more boost <not due to the tune>, it doesn't miss fire, and there's no knock. Also the power is much smoother, so i'm able to corner a bit more sure of myself now. Basically it made the world of a difference!

excellent...

So where did boost end up? ...I thought you were looking for around 7-8lbs...
