Damn it ... I had my hands on that car a few weeks back.
You bought it in Burlington, right ? I made a low-ball offer and never heard back. Every corner of the body was crunched. Did you get the engine with it ? Please send me a PM or email and tell me how much it cost. I want to know how far off I was with my offer. Thanks, Dave :seeya |

Thanks, Dave :seeya also I hope you score on that other one and please keep me in mind for the rear clip, I really need it. I leave for vacation this week, on Friday but I can have my dad come see you, and purchase the rear clip...cut it off etc once you get it home and settled... I am sure we can work something out The original motor was not with the orange Corvette I bought...but I have a correctly dated coded engine... |
$2500-4k? From the pics.. it looks like it needs lot of work. Not trying to insult... just using my car as a base. Mine was road worthly and running before body off... I paid $9500 in 1998. it's a 70 vert...
NH... how much did you offer? AM I FAR OFF? hey this could be a good game here on the forum... Kind of like price is right for Corvettes. Great year though... Is the frame bad or clean? |

NH... how much did you offer? AM I FAR OFF? hey this could be a good game here on the forum... Kind of like price is right for Corvettes. Great year though... Is the frame bad or clean? it does need work, but the frame is mint and nothing is challenging when compared to the following the Corvette will be an easy resto, this will give you an idea of how redonkulous I can be... Here are some pictures of my 67: Here is a quick list of what has been replaced - -all new floors -trunk -shock towers -rear panel -both quarters -both rear outer wheel houses -shocks -all new bushings throughout the car -complete used roof off a donor car as the understructure was rotted -fenders -radiator support -rocker panels -had whole car media blasted -panel in between rear window and trunk (section of it) -hood -all lines -fuel tank -converted to 4 wheel disc etc should have bought a done car maybe hehe, but you get the picture I am sure....car is ready to be jambed, but just broke my leg and ankle surfing, so will be a couple weeks http://sfaboston.bizland.com/firewall.JPG http://sfaboston.bizland.com/mess.JPG http://sfaboston.bizland.com/roof.JPG http://sfaboston.bizland.com/rearpanel.JPG http://sfaboston.bizland.com/CAMAROPROFILE2.jpg http://sfaboston.bizland.com/CAMAROENGINEBAY.jpg http://sfaboston.bizland.com/TACHCAGE.JPG http://sfaboston.bizland.com/CAMAROPRIMETWO.JPG |

wow nice camaro!
what are the rev limit on that engine? and 13 to 1 comp  |
Yeah, nice Camaro. When I talked to the bro-in-law of the woman selling the 69, I said "parts car - about 2 grand". I called back later but never a reply.
The thing with the Camaro is that it will be worth SO much more than the vette ... anyday. Not so ridiculous. :seeya |

thanks for the compliments!!
|
That Camaro is really looking sweet, you do nice work. What color will it be when it's finished?
|
similar to this House of Kolor's Emerald Green
Will have a single wide Baldwin Motion stripe going from the header panel to rear spoiler http://www.colocustomcycles.com/imag...eraldgreen.jpg |
Huge score last night!!!!
my dad was on craigslist and happen to find a complete, very clean rear clip from a 1968, it was from a convertible but I only need the lower quarters, rear panel, and area near the deck.. we went last night and bought it, the guy is delivering it Saturday...nice guy as well, he may actually purchase a small block off us for his Corvette.... the clip, like the Corvette will go into storage for now,,,until the Camaro is done |
[QUOTE=BOSTONCAMARO]I really dont want to say, but I didnt pay much, we will leave it at that
it does need work, but the frame is mint and nothing is challenging when compared to the following the Corvette will be an easy resto, this will give you an idea of how redonkulous I can be... [QUOTE] your making me miss my 67....looks great   |
Hey, That 68 clip is also in the CF C3 parts forum.
I thought of you - but haven't seen you on lately. Are you F-in nuts ?? You HAVE to build that as a convertible. HAVE TO !!! Convertible tops aren't too cheap, but you can pick up a hardtop for about $500. No doubt ... has to be a vert, not a coupe. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1466874 :seeya |

|
RIP 68:sadangel:
There isn't much to the conversion, just mating the rear clip and the top. You're almost done with the camaro, you've got a boat and the vette...sounds as if you like to keep busy, add convertible conversion to the list and you won't be disappointed...unless its a track car. If its a fun car, then you have all the major parts minus the top at your fingertips....go for it!!! BTW, how deep is your garage?? you've got two cars in there already, I need one of those! |

The Corvette only has 50k original miles on it, they are hard miles but 50k nonetheless, I couldnt see doing a conversion, though I do know wouldnt be too difficult |
Well, not exactly what I pictured in my head.
You got what I would call the back half of the rear clip. It could still be kept a vert ... but much more work than I thought. I imagined you swapping it out at the firewall. So, you are planning to use the rear quarters and taillight panel ? That's a bit of fiberglass work, too. Why not save yourself the aggravation and sell me the vette for twice what you paid ? deal ? :seeya |

UPDATE:
Camaro will hopefully in the body shop next week. Recently purchased the following items at swap meets -Ceramic coated headers -Big block radiator - which I hope to adapt and use -Aluminum finned Corvette scripted valve covers, propably off a 1965 or so Gutted, cleaned my barn - put the Corvette on wheel dollies and it is now safely stored in the barn for winter. Once the Camaro is at the body shop I am going to pull the pan off of the 10.5 to 1 350 that was in another Camaro I onced owned. I will toss a new Corvette pan on it, detail the engine, detail the engine bay and then drop it in. |
Hey Tim, did you see the 69 that George is parting out
in the parts-4-sale section ? It had fire in front part of body ... and the rear clip is still unclaimed. He states that he may part it out (the clip). Just thinking you might need a taillight panel. :seeya If you run into radiator troubles, I have an early C3 4-core radiator in the garage. |
thanks
I already bought an entire rear clip! |
Hey Bostoncamaroif you want to sell the taillights and letters off that 68 rear lmk if they are any good:thumbs:

Now those are low profile tires!
Love '69's. Nice Camaro too. |
Moved from another thread, thought it makes more sense here
I am about to drop a 350 and Muncie into my 69 and have some questions. I am using a regular 403 bellhousing, not a scattershield or anything. Will the 350 with Muncie attached swing in and drop in easy or should I install motor then put tranny in from below? I am also putting headers in, regular full length, common 2 5/8 tubes. Will these drop right in if attached to motor or trans during drop in or should I install headers after, do they pop up through the bottom or drop in down beside the engine from up top? Pulleys, I need the original part numbers or the original part numbers o pulleys that will work with the standard short water pump - I have tons of pulleys in crates, so if I know a few numbers that will work correct, it will save me some time in test fitting etc. I will take pics along the way, the Corvette will be a driver and at least at this point will not see the detail work that is in my 67 Camaro. I appreciate the information. The motor will be Chevy orange, giving it a repaint tomorrow, also has quickly refreshed, correct finned valve covers. The motor is from a 1985 Camaro I once built and owned, the motor is a pretty correctly dated block and heads. I bought the car back 7 years after I sold it, after the original owner let it sit and at one point let it sit in a foot of water. The person who bought it, a woman, drove it for 2 months then parked it. I went mid 12s on the street with it, so will be fun in the Corvette. I commuted with the car during college, was first motor I built, ported the heads etc. |
Cleaned engine today, here are pics on facebook, also feel free to friend me up, I have all the other car photo albums on there
http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...9&l=9ea8e74176 The 85 Camaro soon before I sold it when I was 24, I bought it back when I was 31, I am 37 now http://sfaboston.bizland.com/GREENCAMAROFOUR.jpg When I bought the car back, could put your arm right through the firewall it was rotted so bad, wasnt the rarest, best car ever but great for getting in to trouble! http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._1566794_n.jpg |

Car ready for the motor

All bolted together

My friend Rob worked the adjuster - his car/truck that he has since sold was a 500hp small block, M22 Rockcrusher, 12 bolted, lowered S 10 that was a mid 11 second car
http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...5_286262_n.jpg |
|
The leveler/pitch adjustment made this a snap, even when almost on the motor mounts all the way, we adjusted it for the last time, eased right in

Nothing fancy, just a quickie clean up and paint
http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._2305330_n.jpg |
|
Even though it was midnight when we finished, Rob offered to pull the plugs to get ready for the header install, as I finished cleaning up the barn
http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._6256171_n.jpg |
looks good .
looks like a strong motor |
The motor is like 10.5 to 10.75 to 1, has fully, heavily port 186 casting number heads, screw in studs, guide plates, full ported and flowbenched Victor Junior and Crane Fireball II 302H with 302 duration480" lift. It was a 12 second motor in the Green Camaro and that car always needed a little more gear, it had 3:73's. The Corvette has 4:11's so I am sure it will go good and be dependable.
Glad you like the pics! |
nice!
|
thanks, just nice to see the car getting some attention, the car only has 53k on it but had a very tough life
|
Went to go buy sidepipes off a guy, didnt buy them but did buy this L 88 scooped hood, needs some work, but not bad, not an original GM piece, but will work fine

Dropped back out, so I could put header gaskets in after test fit
http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._3098389_n.jpg |
Trimmed one of the tabs that stick down below the door, I think for rocker panel moulding, seemed to get in the way of the sidepipe tab when going in.
One inch header bolts, stainless allen bolts sitting in place. http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._5318308_n.jpg |
|
|
|
|
I used dental floss to hold bolt in place, problem is the bolt needs to be pushed back so that the sidepipe can slide by, due to the mounting tabs. I ended up using wire on the rear bolt and also reaching up into the frame after with a long screw driver to push the bolt through once the tabs were lined up. I slide the sidepipe on all the way and basically let the header line up where it wanted the sidepipe to sit as I didnt want to preload or torque the header. I still need to trim the rocker moulding but setting them in place quick, looks like will be a great fit. I also took off the rear wheel to allow the sidepipe to slide in easier, as you have to slide it on from the rear, I hit the tire.
http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._1875753_n.jpg |
All in place, easy to get it with open end wrench.
http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._7982436_n.jpg |
Rear mounting tab, I snipped off the blue wire after.
http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._2141964_n.jpg |
|
|
|
|
Passenger side T bolt tab, there was a big flap covering it that I snipped off, I did smooth it out after, made it look good
http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._6034620_n.jpg |
Header went right in, without jacking up car and without taking starter out
http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._2359923_n.jpg |
Measured to get idea how far the sidepipe is on, it will not go on the full 3 1/4 inch that the header seems to allow. Probably in about 2 1/2 inches.
http://a8.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._6529580_n.jpg |
Had to round the head of the allen bolt on the second bolt back on the number 2 cylinder, it simply would not clear the header tube, I also shortened it a couple threads so it would pass through and also slightly chamfered the hole. Was quick, easy work and not near as bad as stuff I have done for other header installs for other cars.
http://a3.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...0_402410_n.jpg |
Here is the chamfered hole, which I also finish sanded after, it allows the bolt to pop right through.
http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._4355539_n.jpg |
I could have shortened another allen wrench but simply used some good small channel locks to tighten this bolt...it is tight, tight like a tiger. I did also have to very slightly, barely touch two other bolt holes to allow the bolts to pass through easy, went fast with an air dremel.

Good job. Nice install. Looks good.
As we discussed, the header bolts may be the hardest part of the install. Especially the one in your pic. The problem is the tube overhangs over the hole in the flange. Impossible to angle in the bolt. Like you, I tightened up 1" bolts for the other holes. This allowed me to use a shorter .75" bolt for that one difficult hole. I then grinded the thread end of the .75" bolt just a little bit more. I was then able to angle in the bolt without altering the flange. The key is to use the small head header bolts. |

Camaro...
I totally agree with your recommendation for OBX pipes. I've been saying that for months with a mixed response. Much of that was from those same "Made in the USA" vs. "Chinese junk" posters including most who don't even ride with sidepipes. These OBX fit and look great. All for $600. That is hard to beat. It took your excellent post with pictures to prove it. Nice job. |
Clubby, thanks, I am glad that you were the guniea pig and bought them first, without having info from someone on here, I probably would not have bought them
