What is typical labor cost for C5 motor R&R

Just wondering what is typical labor cost involving removing and replacing an LSx motor in a C5?
thanks

EG@EnglandGreen 06-20-2006 05:05 PM

Expensive. Whole drivetrain has to be dropped to pull the engine.

Ask Connecticut - he recently did one.

You can do it youself and save a lot of money.

Check out Cajun Dude's web site
http://www.cajundude.com/c5techhome.htm

A shop will probably be around $2,500.

You better grab Connecticut's offer before he finds out what everybody else charges and starts calling it a typo.

Just to clear up any confusion, FFHP is a shop in Kentucky, this link was used as an example of LS1/LS6 long/short block pricing

Looks like he retracted the price pretty quick :D Although I'm sure he will do as promised

the pricing is there as posted, I've swapped 2 F16 block42 motors in one shift(w/ a crew of 5), the C5 motor swap isn't that time consuming, although I do miss the trim pad runs on the 16's

mdhmi 06-20-2006 11:36 PM

$1,000 - $1,500 to R&R the motor.

Yep. Andy did my 4.10's and a few other things.....and I'm heading up there this weekend for the BBQ. But he ain't gonna swap a motor for the prices you're throwing out there!

In all seriousness though.....I'll be hitting Andy up for a forged motor install in the next 6 months to a year. :D

American Heritage Performance

We are a corvette specialty shop.
We have two in house forged motor builds (engine R&R) in the shop at the moment. A 383 C5Z and a 440 C6Z. PM us if you looking for any work in the socal area. Our prices are far less than A&A.
