Survey for 19" DR's for Nitto
 

Anyone that would be interested in a 19" DR from Nitto please respond. They asked how well I thought it would sell. I will forward this info on.

Here was there response.

Dear Ted,
If we do plan on making this tire, it will take a little while

:iagree: :thumbs: Yes, they NEED to make a 19" DR in roughly a 305 or 295 width (Nittos tend to run a bit narrower than most other brands) and preferably in an overall diameter (40 series sidewall?) that matches our stock OEM rears (roughly 26.85). :yesnod:

What they really need to make is a 19in 295 or 305 R-compound tire, either a 555 RII or a NT01, with a 18 255 for the front. I met a Toyo tire rep (they own nitto) at the airport a couple months ago and told him the same thing and that they'd sell quick. He agreed.

Smaller diameter tires will get you down the track quicker. Buy a set of 17 inch rims and use them. There is no need for 19 inch DR's. Besides, they only last about 5,000 miles on the road.

True, the ultra low profile will make them almost useless on a car with any real power although the 35 series 18 inch BFG DRs do pretty well.

Except that TC will not like the same size wheel all around and those wheels won't fit over Z51 brakes. Now, I did successfully throw on a set of Y2K wheels I have sitting around (17x8.5 and 18x9.5) after swapping out the front brakes and those worked fine. The problem is you really need more tire on this car than what these wheels can accomodate. You can't go wider in the rear without having the wheel outside the fender. Believe me, I've tried every possible alternative.

I suppose you could just go with aftermarket wheels.

They do fit over the brakes, many already use this combo and the TC is fine, I've run that combo many, many times.

Well, we'll have to disagree. On my car, the calipers were touching the wheel rim. I could get the wheel on and turn it, but the caliper was making a groove in the rim - not good. And when I ran the 18x9.5 wheels up front and threw on the 18 x 10.5 rears from my Z06 on the back, the TC was engaging on the highway. Putting it in comp mode solved the problem, but that is not ideal.

They must make not know how to measure in CA becasue on the east coast they fit fine, Ranger even used his on a Z06, those calipers are far larger than the Z51
As for TC, I have driven quite a few hours with back and forth with 17 inch ET streets on my rear, never had an issue, did it for years on a C5 with no problems either...on a 16 inch wheel, the 16 inchers rubbed a little, but a hammer took care of that ;)

Anyway, if they don't fit for you they don't fit.

What we have here is a failure to communicate... The brake problem I am talking about with smaller wheels is up front, not in back.

The TC is a problem on my C6 and those of others. I agree the C5 was fine, and that not all C6s are affected.

currently running ZO6 19x12 rims......I would love to have drag radials I could mount on 19x12 rims......make them.
