The Grond Chronicles : Reincarnation Part 5 [Dialup; You will be Savaged]

As always, full details of The Grond Chronicles are at http://www.grond.tv

Precis : Shattered Hammer, soon to be Reforged…

Part 1 of The Grond Chronicles : The Reincarnation, dealt with stripping the body panels and removing the entire drivetrain and engine. Details are here

Part 2 documented the complete engine teardown and looked like a scene out of Chernobyl. Details are here

I then auctioned off 2 of my melted pistons to benefit St. Jude Childrens Hospital on the Corvette Forum. That auction raised $2400 for the sick kids - here

Part 3 covered the interior demolition. Details are here

Along the way, I bought this – a JL Audio 18inch subwoofer. And a few amplifiers… :D

Part 4 documented how to install 4.5inch tubs on a C5 Coupe and a weld-in custom 6 point chrome moly roll cage (cage courtesy of Cajundude). Details are here

At the end of Part 4, I bought a brand new bare LS2 block - here

During Part 5, I became a Supporting Tuner - here

Part 5, that you are reading now, will document the build of the custom enclosure for the mega subwoofer, false floor, racks for the amps, dual rear mounted Optima Yellow Top batteries and targa top storage.

All made out of fiberglass.

Parts 6, 7, 8, etc. I will reveal as time goes on. This project will stretch for several months – at least until the end of the year - so please pull up a chair, open a cold one and get comfy.

Some background; This is the 5th incarnation of my stereo. Hopefully this will be my last, but don’t count on it. This time I intend to do thing quite differently from the last four times. We will see if I succeed.

So without further ado, here are the pics.

EG

This bad boy turned up on my doorstep a few days ago – Rockford Fosgate 1501bd. 1500wrms @ 2ohms all day long. I will be driving this monster into 3 ohms, so I expect a solid 1000wrms to the subwoofer

Look at the size of those coils and caps
http://grondpix.com/reincarnation/re...tion30 - 2.jpg

The Profile amps and cap will not be reused. JL Audio 450/4 plus 20 Farad cap along with a few other goodies coming in soon

Found an interesting location to mount these 4 x 6.5inch drivers.
http://grondpix.com/reincarnation/re...tion30 - 4.jpg

And an even more interesting location for the Kicker supertweeters. I already have RF 1 inch supertweeters in my door pulls

OK. I admit that I am not very good at woodworking…
http://grondpix.com/reincarnation/re...tion30 - 6.jpg

But at least I am smart enough to buy great tools

Let’s get to work!

I am trying to keep it to 1 thread per major modification from start to finish. Unfortunately it never quite works out that way and always goes way off topic all the time.

Even so, I don't want to break them up into dozens of tiny threads as it will make it too hard to have continuity with each major mod.

So please set your "View" settings at 100 posts per page. Problem solved :yesnod:
