Bought an 05' vette from carmax!

All i can say is wow, I flew to vegas from socal and drove her all the way home. It was just a great drive and experience all the way around. BUT!!!!!!!! the sad thing is, carmax.. I'm pretty sure drilled in place the GM front plate holder!!! I literally have 3 holes in my front bumper now  When i originally looked at the plate holder i thought it was stuck on with double sided tape.. am I now screwed with 3 ugly holes in the bumper?? has anyone successfully patched these holes without them looking like ass?? Any info would be appreciated.

And the specs of the new car is 05 Black on Black, MN6, z51, appears to be fully loaded inc the navigation, I couldn't be happier and the price was great too.

Here are a few [B]bad[B] camera phone pics:

Carmax

I almost bought a car from Carmax about a month ago. I live in NJ and asked a Forum Member near Sacramento, CA to look at a car that was at the Carmax site in Roseville/Sacramento. Unfortunately, the car was sold by the time he got there (next day). From the feedback I've heard, the cars that they sell are pretty good and the prices are very competitive.

As to your question about the three holes in your front bumper, I think that a good body shop would be able to fix your problem. I don't understand how anyone with any sense would drill three holes in the bumper to attach an ugly plate holder. Good luck with the car.

Congrat's on the new Corvette. Unfortunately other than inserting a few plugs in the holes painted with touch up paint the body shop is the only way.

Black plastic plugs. Unfortunately, you will be the only person that will notice it.

Congratulations!

CarMax is very good - our family bought a Jeep Liberty from them with low miles at a great price, and it has proven to be highly reliable.

Sounds like you did what I did over a year ago. I purchased a used 05 black on black Z51, fully loaded. My VIN# is ~01000 so I have a very early car. It has 43000 miles on it as of today and I have had zero problems of significance. The worst was an active handling light (1 hour fix at a dealer).

Good luck!

Bumper Plugs

The bastiges at the stealership did that to my new M5 too, and I just gave 'ol Eric a call at http://bumperplugs.com/BPindex.html
It's the easiest, cheapest solution out there short of attempting to fill them in, or replacing the bumper, and only you will notice them.
Here's a pic of the M with the plugs installed. They're the little ones just below the grills. And ya, they are a perfect match!

Check the service records and see if the roof has been fixed, and the BCM reflashed. If your VIN is less than about 11,000, you'd better read about the crankbolt problem for future reference.

Thanks for all the replies I will be sure to check out that website for the color matched plugs, as well as checking my service records. Thank you for the heads up.

Can you negotiate the price that is listed on the Carmax sticker or is that set in stone?

Congratulations on your new C6! It looks like a real beauty.

Unfortunately the price they list is what you pay, there is no negotiating at all, luckily this was the best deal on a c6 with all the options that i wanted with just under 7k miles for right under 40 grand. I did have em detail the car and they threw in a couple oil changes for free, but I think i will do my own oil changes. Over all i had a good experience buying from them.

I'm sure that you will enjoy the car & find a way to fix the holes:thumbs:

I'd say ask around and find the most reputable body shop in your area. If your car insurance agent is good, he/she will know which ones are best in the area. Anything you do yourself to those holes, you'll always be able to notice and they'll nag the hell out of you for the life of the car. The only way to fix them so they are undetectable is to use a body shop. My guess would be a few hundred bucks ($250 to $350) to fix it, but I suppose it depends on what area you are in. SoCal might be more than that.

My buddy bought an older Vette at Carmax, with their extended warranty. He had several major problems, and didn't pay a penny for repairs. He said their warranty and their service was great. You may want to look into it if they still offer it.
