Funny story..

I'm on my way to meet a buddy of mine for a cup of joe. He's a cop, on duty, so of course it's at Dunkin Donuts;) Anyway, I'm running a little late, so I call him to let him know. I'm still talking to him on my cell when I get to about 1/4 mile away from the DD. I'm stopped at a light, and a guy in a Dodge Magnum pulls up next to me. Starts burping his throttle, looking all Viagra. I'm on my hands-free, so he doesn't know I"m on the phone. I tell my buddy to get into his cruiser, I've got an easy mark for him. I look at the guy and nod. Light turns green, he takes off as I gently releas the clutch and SLOWLY take off in a easy and responsible manner. Guy doesn't notice till it's too late. BAM! Easy mark for my friend, lesson learned for a wanna-be 'Vette owner.

Not sure if this breaks any rules. Figure it doesn't since there was no race and Smokey got his man.

Sounds like borderline entrapment to me.

Don't know if there's a rule against that or not. :willy:

Well not sure of your glory in getting someone spanked but you seem to be part of the problem. Just remember when that urge comes the shoe may be on your foot. Not talking about road or street racing just plain excessive axcelleration that will get you a ticket.

Didn't have anything to do with "glory". Tired of wanna-bees pulling this kind of BS. I didn't buy my car to race it, but this kind of crap happens just about everytime I'm out with it. Nice to see one of these morons caught.

Oh, and when I decide to get on it a little, it will be done carefully, with caution and with the knowledge that Big Brother ain't watching.:yesnod:

AMAZING! Guy get's what he had comin', but I'm the d***. I'm sure you'd feel the same if he hit you or someone you cared for.

What you did was a TOTAL A$$$$. So you are always a law abiding citizen? :toetap: . Don't come in here bragging about your childish act and expect CF members to tap you on the back and hi five you..:bs

mlongo99 01-23-2007 01:07 AM

 Great story. I'm with you 100% Crabby. I won't race people either, that guy tried to get you to race, and he got busted for being an ass. I think it's hilarious!

Besides, if you ignored him instead of pretending you were gonna race, he most likely would have taken off hauling ass anyway.

Two issues here: You set the man up and you think it was funny.????
You sound like the kid in the back of the classroom who just ratted to the teacher on Johnny for talking in class.

:cuss

WAwatchnut 01-23-2007 03:22 AM

Not sure I'd appreciate anyone doing that to me...

regardless of how much I deserved it. I think the guy getting a ticket's a good thing, but this was the part that made me feel uneasy:

If you hadn't done anything, and the guy was showing off, then he deserved it... but...

credulus 01-23-2007 03:56 AM

When I first read the post I kind of felt strange about how it went down. Street racing is stupid and dangerous to begin with but and a big BUT here when you sent the nod back at him at the light I think that was a little much. If you say but for the "nod" he would not have accelerated in a manner that would have gotten him a ticket then it was a complete set up.

gota07 01-23-2007 03:57 AM

Even though I've only been challenged once so far, I can easily understand how one can get fed up with these punks. I can also see how the circumstances and timing played right into teaching this driver a lesson.

I would have tried a slightly different approach though. I would have asked your officer friend if he could just pull him over and give him a lecture, or if he was obligated to write up the incident, then see if he could have issues just a warning. I think an officer has the discretion to do that. That would have probably still been a good reality check for the driver without costing him the cash or the points. Would have made for a funnier story too.;)

C6Rluvur 01-23-2007 05:51 AM

Karmas a bitch, you just broke a man law, like everybody else said you set him up, end of story...NOT COOL.....You'll get yours funny guy....Comes around goes around.....:leaving:

BickyDhadwal 01-23-2007 05:56 AM

you rat

crabby2much 01-23-2007 06:36 AM

To all the whiners about this: I didn't make him to anything. He chose to do it. I didn't approach him, he approached me. Did I set him up? Yep. Will he maybe think twice about doing that kind of s*** again? Yep. If I hadn't done this, does he do the same to someone else, maybe get a race, then who know what might happen? Someone might get killed.

"Man Law"? "Karma"? Get real! He's responsible for his actions. All you compaliners are full of :bs
