I was hoping it was a Vette you were driving....thinking that a "M6" actually meant "MN6"! :willy:

I'm actually thinking of getting the Z06. Its such an amazing car with an amzing engine.
I know its gonna be faster than the M6 and more brutal.

Jidex,

Welcome to the forum, nice to see you and our girl over here....

Anyway guys, Jidex's M6 is #2 in our top speed list of clients. And by the way guys, before I go any further, this is a legit closed course, an old airfield actually. Our #1 high flyer is a 207 e36 m3... Jidex's car was not this fast out of the box, we gave him a shot of Active Autowerkes e63 software to give her a kick in the pants and to eliminate the top speed limiter. Jidex hooked up with us when he was getting out run by one of our big dog 485 whp e60 M5's. Jidex was having none of that and that is when we met. He is a great guy and I expect to see him for sure on the NY area exotic runs.

1- the circuit needs to be arranged and closed to all other traffic ( no other cars and no pedestrians)
2- The tires all have to be inspected for the speed rating
3- The car has to be inspected-brakes, ducts, oil etc
4- The drivers need to have permits and necessary insurance papers
5- And finally
a quarter tank of gas

thats it
Next time we'll have a GPS based speed device with us

has anyone who hit these type of speeds specifically changed the tires that came with the car.?
How do Corvette stock tires hold up to high speed runs!? and the brakes?

The sound of the new M5/M6 is just amazing. What a sexy looking/sounding beast.

Tires for high speed

I don't run track events but I do drive fast on the street (See the blue car in the sig.). It is a Closed road, but it is a 2 lane desert highway. I ran Hoosier R3SO4's for years with out problems, then Hoosier came out with the R4SO4 with is steel belted. I had nothing but problems with them, in fact see this pic:

http://www.boomspeed.com/jeffyvette/Blowout.jpg

That is what happens when you blow a tire at 204mph. I never hit a thing or had any impact. All the damage was done by the tire explosion. So keep this in mind when you are thinking of making those top end speed runs.

Now I run Continental's see next link:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....Contact+2+Vmax

I have run a whole year with these and they still look brand new.

I've been over 201 MPH on a ZR rated street tire. The Standing Mile in Maxton, N.C. will tech them to up 200 mph and a DOT drag radial up to 225.

They hold up well at high speeds. Brakes are good too untill you try to go from 165 to 65 when your valentine goes off.

Ha ha .
The M6 brakes are cross drilled and seem not to fade like the M3's.
