New DD/Corvette parts hauler (w/ pics)
Ever since I sold my Pickup last summer I have been dying to get another one. My daily commute is only 6 miles, and now that my youngest is driving I figured I would have some fun with my daily driver vs. the standard SUV or sedan most of us have to drive.
I put a deposit this little '67 C10 Chevrolet short box stepside yesterday. I will pick it up in a week or so (traveling now). I was impressed with how quiet and smooth it rides. Everything works, and the attention to detail that the seller put into this truck is outstanding. He builds street rods, so it has many of the touches you would expect to find in a well built rod. It has modern A/C (Olde Air kit), dropped spindles, disk brakes, fuel injected (throttle body) 305 V8, 700R4 spd auto and tilt column (out of a caprice - yes Rich ;-) I said caprice), new 3 core radiator, new upholstry, fresh paint (inside and outside), fresh chrome bumpers, all new lenses, halogen lights, 20" rims (I'm trying to decide if I like these or not), etc... He even painted the ash tray (inside and out) :D The truck was a Luke Air Force Base work vehicle, and the Police Officer I'm buying it from bought it at auction and did all the work himself. It only has 47K on it, but being a work truck it was tired. It has spent it's whole life in a dry climate and is completely rust free. The guy I'm buying from basically donated the labor, and sold me the truck for what he had into it so he could get more funding for his '41 Chevy coupe. We've all been there, and it's nice for once to be on the recieving end of this. I'm usually the guy donating the labor  I won't do a lot to it, but have some changes in mind already like a nice oak bed w/ stainless strips, etc... I realize this thread might get moved, but few of us travel to those other sections and I value the opinions I get from the team here in General (and tech of course). Love it.
After the vette is done and I settle into a new house I'll be doing a custom pickup truck build. Thinking about an old GMC or Studabaker with todays tech. Hopfully within 2 yrs I'll be under way. Good luck with the truck, if you ever sell it within 2 yrs keep me in mind. That body style is growing on me fast! |
nice ride
 |
Very nice... what kind of wheels are those?
|
I own a 70 short/step and love the front sheetmetal of the 67/68's even better. I personally don't care for the wheels on your truck but overall I love the truck.
