is this only for the lt1? I have a 96 lt4, would it make any difference?

The LT4 hot cam is more aggressive than a stock LT4 cam, with some lope at idle. Actually not a bad upgrade for LT4, since you already have the LT4 valve springs (LT4 hot cam has too much lift for stock LT1 springs).

It is a very nice cam for a LT4 this cam and some long tube headers and a tune will net you around 400HP at the crank. If your car has over 50k on the clock I would replace the old springs and timing chain.

Would I have to get tune after the install? How much power should be expected to be gained (assuming I already have LT's, although I dont).
Eh, 45k miles, getting close to that point..

let me clarify.this is the gm hot cam kit for an lt1 or lt4.the intake gasket is for an lt1 intake.all the other gaskets are the same.you would need the lt4 intake gasket.
i would replace your valvesprings going to the hotcam.
i would do a tune after the cam to get the most out of it.i believe the hotcam is generally good for 25 horses at the wheels.maybe a little more/less.the long tubes would help for sure.
at 45k i would reuse my stock chain so long as it was'nt sloppy.

I can't give you a answer I had all of the work done together then got tuned. I will tell you headers compliment the cam or vice versa. I like this cam great manners. With a good tune you will pass emissions if that is a concern.
