Tint or no Tint - especially a Black Z06

Im scheduled for dark or charcoal tint on Monday...
...I like the look without tint but I think I need to be sure...

got pics of your Z06 with or without tint? :)

considering tint in StuZ06

thanks

I'd say if your gonna get tint, keep it classy. Go with something light. Look at it this way, the Z06 interior is black and the car has a solid roof that lets in no sun light. A lighter tint will look darker because of this. I suggest a 50% or a 35%. I am personally torn between the two shades for my millenium yellow Z.

DARK tint ftw.

rico750sxi 04-06-2007 09:38 PM

I say tint for obvious reasons but don't go too dark.

electronbluec5 04-06-2007 09:41 PM

Every car I have owned has been tinted. Never more than 35%. I would say keep it legal. I wouldn't give the LEOs another reason to hassle you.

In CA any tint on the front is illegal. That said, might as well go for it. 20% all around looks killer.

Good thought! ...I hadnt considered the interior being too dark...

One thing I have considered though is not being able to see out so well at night...

I am more likely to lean toward legal tint...
...although I do like the darkest ...Id like to enjoy the light too...

Having been in a coupe (StuzVette) for so long...
...this thread has reminded me that it is really a FixedRC I driving now...

nice look...

your pic does help me to notice that the dark tint againt the black Z06 does not lend itself to contrast...

...nice contrast on the blue...

I have 35% on my black Z06, and often wish it was darker...but wanted to stay legal. One thing you should consider is pure black tints versus hybrid/metallic (or even the newer ceramic) tints. A pure black will look darker whereas my Johnson film is hybrid, and doesn't look as dark due to the "metal" that gives it a slightly silver sheen. You cannot see this well in pictures though...so see if you can look at samples of their different tints that are actually installed on cars. If you don't see it on a car, the sample won't help much.

Also, pay attention to the work they do on your "dot matrix" around the rear window. I'm going to have mine re-done since I am not satisfied with the original tinting, and the guy I went with is really good (and had done 4 of my vehicles over the years). You won't regret getting a tint...if only for the cooler interior and slightly more privacy.

In Florida you have to tint but mine is really dark and I think I'm going to have it removed and have a lighter tint installed. The reason I haven't done it...the dark looks great and it isn't my daily driver....but at night it is distracting also pulling in and out of the garage it's difficult to see, I only have a single car garage.

Just my opinion and experience. Let us know what you decide. :flag:

Miine is already illegal at 35% on the sides. The rear window is 15% (or was it 20%).

The same guy that installed my tint in StuzVette used something like you have in yours...
...it looks great on the Quicksilver but it wasnt what I had originally intended...
I like it....

...However I really want to stay with a charcoal look especially after seeing it in your vettes...
And in Florida, I know you need the tint too...
...so I have abandoned leaving off the tint!

You mentioned not being able to see and that really does bother me more than going real dark appeals to me...

Why did you move your rear plate down???
If you fill in the other spot I think it would be cool...

The first thing I do when I get a car is tint the windows.. I normally go 20% on the rear, and 35% on the back..

This time, I did 5% on the rear and 35% on the doors.
