Help finding a front wheel hub
 

I posted this in the parts wanted/for sale section but have gotten no leads yet. I hope it is ok to post here as well and maybe get more exposure. Does anyone know where I can get a front wheel center hub for a 65? I have checked the vendors web pages along with the catalogs, as well as local parts stores here with no luck. Web searches have been fruitless also. Everyone has the rotors but no hubs. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks, Steve

Try Brad's Corvette Parts in Ft. Lauderdale. He still has a lot of mid-year parts on hand.

Long Island Corvette lists a used hub and a hub/rotor set. They don't have prices with them, which may mean they don't actually have them in stock.

You may be out of luck. I found this on the internet on the Herlinger's Corvette site. As he suggests, you may consider replacing the spindle and hub with some newer ones.

Many of the parts on the front suspension such as: hub rotor assemblies, front spindles, spindle arms and brake caliper brackets were discontinued long ago. Midyear (1963-1967) suspension parts in good used condition are almost impossible to find. We are fortunate because if needed a front spindle and hub assembly for a 1965 Corvette can be up dated with a 1969 through 1982 spindle assembly. Chevrolet made so many of the later Corvettes especially 1973-1982 that used front suspension parts are still fairly plentiful and can be found at most Corvette auto wreckers.

What's wrong with the hub you have? If the bearing race has pounded itself loose in the hub it can be sleeved.

It is the same hub that is used on some other Chevys of the era except for the drilled holes for the rotor. They are not needed anyway. You may be able to find one in an older junk yard.

Most of the front suspension pieces for disc brake cars interchange from 65-82. I just used a complete 79 set up on my 66.

Try the C3 forum, or any local Vette shop!!!

First, Thank everyone for all the replies. I had thought about the machine shop route but I really just wanted to replace it. Also, I don't want to replace it with a later model set-up if possible. Seeing as how they seem to be as scarce as hens teeth, it looks like I am going see if I can have it sleeved. Talked to a local machine shop today and they seemed to think they can take care of it. In the restoration of my '67, the hub would hold the dust cap on. it would fall off. Investigating this further, the bearing had married it self to the spindle. IT must have heated up and expanded the hub. I could not find a new one anywhere. I ended up buying a a used one from Paragon. It was good.

I have found a fair number of hubs (not Corvette, but it doesn't matter) where the bearing seized and spin the race in the hub, making it too large to hold a new race in. I center punched the hub around the race bore in 6-8 places. It swells the metal and it will hold the new race. Sometimes they're wallered out too big to do this.

Of course, I wouldn't expect anyone to repair a CORVETTE this way.:D

You might try Bairs. I bought several used suspension parts from them during my rebuild.
