Mrs. Patches mods her C5
Well, I suppose it was only a matter of time - the inevitable fallout of all those years of me modding my TR coupe without so much as a, "Honey, hand me the torque wrench, please." :( I guess her standing at the garage door, watching forlornly as my buds and I heads/cammed, headered and regeared our rides ultimately forced her to go her own way.
Having recently acquired her own pristine example of a black C5, Mrs. Patches set out to put the hammer down and show me what's what when it comes to optimizing a stock machine. :smash:  She started by lowering it the max allowed by the factory bolts. Of corse, a drop of that magnitude requires some discreet protection so she added a set of Fatt Daddys from CCA and black Elite Engineering Rocker Rails with built-in jacking pucks. First, to jack the vette up http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...rsPjacks-1.jpg No problem getting those rails and Fatt Daddys in. http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...MrsPmods-1.jpg Fatt Daddys in! http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...FattDaddys.jpg Rocker Rails are  and subtle. http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...ockerRails.jpg Next, Mrs. Patches decided a little performance upgrade was in order so she sourced a Blackwing intake from Corvettes of Houston for an excellent price. (Is that a hint of horsepower madness glinting in her eyes??? ) http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...0C5/MrsPBW.jpg Protect those fenders! Apparently, she picked up a tip or two watching me prep for mods. http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...endercover.jpg Pulling the stock airbox is a no-brainer. http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...MrsPBWout1.jpg Reconfigure the intake assembly with the new Blackwing. (Heh-heh, Patches will  when I pull on his "fast" TR coupe. ) http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...Blackwing1.jpg Pop that sucker back on the bumper mounts . . . http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p.../MrsPBWin1.jpg . . . reconnect the AIR hose and install the service indicator . . . http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...Windicator.jpg . . . check all connections and . . . http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p.../MrsPBWin2.jpg . . . Viola'! Instant hp! :D http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...Blackwing2.jpg Oh, here's this little mystery part everyone is always asking about on the forum. Mrs. Patches took it off when she pulled the radiator support to clean it since she was already in there (Ahg! Another Patches obsession!) http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...protector1.jpg C'mon, guys - it's the A/C line protective bumper. Goes right here. http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...protector2.jpg Got that, guys? :D http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...protector3.jpg |
Hmm, got to do something 'bout that stock exhaust.
http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...%20C5/Rear.jpg The Ti exhaust that Patches picked up from a froum member in the 4sale section for a great price. A little cleanup and . . . http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...s/Tibefore.jpg . . . looks good as new. http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...ds/Tiafter.jpg Put the vette on the lift and get the Ti's on. http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...TiRearLift.jpg Tips look nice. http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...ackTiTips2.jpg Finally looks "right"! http://i131.photobucket.com/albums/p...lackTiRear.jpg |
