C5s W/ C6 ZO6 shocks. Come on in.
(97 Z51 18s all around 46k miles)
How do you guys/gals like your C6 ZO6 shocks? I changed mine and the frount raised up about 3/8" and the back droped 1/2". I put on about 30 miles in the last week and it still stayed higher/lower. I cant wate till the Vette is back to being racked a little higher on the back. To see how it rides. Im going in for a alignment, and at the same time . Thay are takeing out my frount bolt (it allready had the the rubber cut) and raising the back. (allready has longer bots). Even chainging the oil filter. (im bringing the oil/filter) For $60.00 :yesnod: (no Vette TAX) So how do you like your C6 ZO6 shocks? Paul G. |
I have an '04 with Z-51 springs, Z06 sway bars, and '06 Z06 shocks. I love them, alot of handling for the buck. I noticed the 4X4 look as well, but it went away after about 300 miles. I did not want to align my car till I was sure my suspension had completely settled in, otherwise the alignment settings would change as the car dropped. I am very happy with the results, they are indeed a performance BARGAIN.

I have about 1000 miles on my C6 Z006 shocks...
I really like the way they have improved cornering and braking  |
I tried them and they are good for daily driving. :)

My car: 1999 Z51 couple with 48K miles.
I put the C6 Z shocks on about 500 miles ago. I REALLY like the imporved firmess, control, and poise -- the car responds much sharper now, like when changing lanes on the highway. The new shocks raised the rear about 1/2 inch when I first put them on, but I haven't measured recently to see if they've settled. The front didn't change at all. I've read that the C6Z shocks are NOT recommended for cars that are lowered all the way on stock bolts. My car is not lowered at all. Overall, though, probably the best $200 I've spent on the car. |
$200 for all 4. nice price.
Sounds like a nice upgrade to stock shocks too. I have the selective ride control on mine - have to get that tuned out. Would the dealership able to do that? |
Have read on this forum where folks with lowered C5s put these shocks on with no issues.
Then I read a post where they state "not suggested for lowered C5s". What gives? (i also read that you can't TechII to remove the F45 shocks from a 98' and then saw 4 folks chime in that they did it with ease) So you can't always believe what you read these days. |
Not sure about other years, but on my 2000 I was able to add the shocks and delete the F45 option with a Tech II. The ride is much more improved and I to aggree it is a very good bang for the buck mod. I am slammed on my stock bolts and have no issues.
|
Is it pretty straight forward with TechII?
(so easy a caveman could do it?) Im in a 2000 as well, with longer bolts - was slammed, raised it about an inch today. |
I would be able to chime on this one someday not yet. I am on the first leg of getting into C6 Z06 shocks and still stuck. Did the F45 delete in the BCM using a Tech II last weekend and the "shocks inop" message came back, seems the delete did not work. Still limping along with the failing F45 shocks :smash:
|
Read that the BCM (in drivers rear compartment) must be unplugged or the codes will still throw..
just what I read |
I'm lowered (cut fronts and longer rear bolts) w/ C6Z shocks...
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...Picture009.jpg The overall feel is leaps and bounds above the Z51's. Controlled in the corners, very nice launch, and very comfortable over dips and bumps. That said, they are performance shocks, which means that anyone who wants a cushy ride should avoid them at all costs. |
