What is most common on L-98 install and where is it located?

Standard rotation, L (driver's) side. The A/C unit sits on the R side.

So it goes in place of alternator and alt is relocated?

Alternator is then flipped and sits on the radiator side of the belt assembly. Almost opposite of blower.
