Looking for some Ideas on Rim Color
I have my factory Wheels off the car and almost ready to be painted.
I've been thinking about spraying them a darker metallic gun metal color or metallic black charcoal. I love the looks of both but would also like to hear some suggestions from other people and possible pics. I thought about going with Black but everyone else out there has black wheels now. I currently have a set of Ace Slick wheels on the car in the hyperblack finish and the silver looks good but I want to go with something a little "tougher" looking and not soo "bright" The car is Torch Red. |

I have some sprayed the darker gunmetal. I can take a picture with it and a factory color rim to see the difference. My thinking was the same. I wanted something different. I may do the darker gunmetal with a machined lip. Hoping to test out my friends lathe one day soon on an extra wheel.

Factory color is just about perfect. Too light or chrome and it doesn't look serious enough, too dark and it hides all the details of the wheels. One reason I don't like black wheels. They sound cool, but just don't show up very well. :)

Interesting thread. I've been thinking of painting my rims kind of an argent-gold. It would have a very slight goldish tint to it that looks killer w/red cars. Check the new Ferrari F430 Scuderia that comes from the factory this way. A little too much gold for me, but you get the general idea.

my thoughts exactly. i have gone with the color "hyper silver". it's not as flat as comp gray but it's darker than regular factory tones.

Graphite gray metallic, almost a perfect match to the color of the brake dust from the Hawk hp+ pads on my daily driver.
