http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1229/...326bf715_o.jpg My new hood ornament: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1049/...09839f2a_o.jpg Pictured here is the stock shifter in the beast with the Holinger shifter next to it. You can see how tall this thing stands. Hopefully mounting it to the torque tube will free up a few inches. If needed, the shop will fabricate a shorter handle. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1257/...d0be8981_o.jpg Also seen are a few more switches since the last updates. More on those later. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1399/...8fc5c8cb_o.jpg I had the Z06 in for a tire change. I'm proud to say these are my 5th set of tires for the car. :reddevil http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1054/...3049dfc8_o.jpg Here are a few pics of the roommates: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1422/...cb21c82c_o.jpg http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1038/...0021b96f_o.jpg http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1142/...534ec5d1_o.jpg I will be bringing the Beast to Putnam Park for the October NCM event. Hope to see many of you there! I have an in car video of the Beast being driven on the track, but I haven't figured out how to compress it smaller. Once I do I will post it. Once the car was running I was neglectful on the updates, as many of them would have been minor changes. If you have any questions please let me know. Mike  |
Awesome, Mike the tranny looks really great. I can't imagine going much faster in that car. And your driving super also. Congrats on the tranny finally showing up, bet you can't wait to get it in. JD

Incredible.. can you explain how it works? Does the trans **** elecronically?
|
Thanks for the pictures. Mike. You will love the new transmission. When we went to Saenz, which is a dog ring transmission, we picked up 2-3 seconds a lap everywhere. You have later technology and should pick up more. I don't understand why the shifter is so tall but you may need that much leverage to shift it smoothly.
Keep having fun. Jim |
Mike, you are absolutely "nuts," and I love that about you. Keep enjoying life, my friend. You have certainly broken the code that "it's too short," and "you can't take it with you."
Having a passion in life is what it is all about. |
Congratulations! This is what you've been waiting so long for. More details as to benefits and how it works please.

Man id love to have that in my street car !

I wish I had one.
Nice. Keep the updates coming. |

The car will go faster now that the gearing will be set. I was using mainly 2 gears at Autobahn and now I'll be using 3-4. It's going to sound much meaner too. Mike  |
if i can ask ... how much does one of these cost and are they even available? looks like fun.
|
Now that is cool!! I would love to see an in car video and listen to those shifts! Do you have to use the clutch on downshifts? Does it blip automatically? How about a little testing in south Florida this winter? I want to be Mike Newlander when I grow up!

When the 'no-lift' is programmed, I will simply keep my right foot planted on straight-a-ways while I row through the gears. This will also allow me to left foot brake. Here is a pic I found from howstuffworks. Input (engine driven shaft) rotating ( violet shaft ). 1st gear rotating, but no drive (yellow splined shaft not rotating). During zoom the barrel cam rotates to the engage 1st position. the dog (orange) moves towards the 1st gear and drive is engaged. Finally the output shaft rotates, we are off down the track. http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/...-animation.gif Mike  |

Keep having fun. Jim Although the tranny is made for the Corvette, the shifter is more of a universal piece. Cars like Porsche for example need the longer shifter. It won't be a problem, just a delay until it's decided how to mount it. |

Having a passion in life is what it is all about. I was upset initially as this was supposed to be in the car back in April. I'm glad it was delayed as it provided me time to learn the car a little first. I'm still pretty new to the Beast, but each time I get better and better. With this new Gizmo, I have to learn how to drive all over again. Hopefully it will be a quick learning curve...no pun intended! I hope I don't forget heel/toe when I get back in the Z06. :willy:  Mike

Congratulations Mike, you must be very excited. I can't wait for your update after the installation.

I want one. I am going to be setting our Z06 up for the drags this winter and need this badly. The tranny is a weak link, along with the CV joints in the Z06.
Too much power for the drivetrain components. How much? Jim |
Yes, how much is one of these?
|
:bigears 30spline output for C6Z rear? :bigears
