86 Z51 Automatic--DOES THE STOCK OIL PAN HAVE BAFFELING FROM GM

Hi, question came up friday after a co-worker found metal particles in his oil. he recently ran a track day and the car got hot. Our discussions went to the area of the oil pan and were trying to determine if the Z51 came with oil baffles for reduction of sloshing when cornering on a track. his car is all original so we are addressing how the best way to determine what needs to be done. car is still running ok...he does have roller rockers on it..1.5 ratio and our first task is to pull the valve covers. Just want to know what GM provided in the oil pan. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply Pete K....just to speculate...is the baffleing sufficient to prevent loss of oil to the pickup on hard cornering left to right...he did a practice track dat a Roebling Road in Ga. recently. the course is mostly flat the majority of the course. Just looking for addressing the easy items before getting into major disassembly.

till later,
tom

The gm baffleing is not very fancy. There is a plate above the pick up(welded in the sump), and a plate that hangs, bolted to the main studs.
The canton road race pan seems to be the preferred pan, based on what I have read here.

Yep, baffled pan and windage tray. I've got an 86 Z51 too.

Fooled me. I would never have considered that set up baffeling. Learn something new every day.
