Window Streaks
 

I have tried invisible glass, vinegar water, zaino's glass poilsh and everything else i can find and still can't get rid of window streaks on the inside of windshield and inside rear glass on my 99 coupe--help

I Have Had The Same Problem More So On The Rear Hatch Inside,i Find If You Go Over The Glass With Adry Mocro Fiber Cloth After Using Glass Cleaner It Really Helps.

Got the same problem. No matter what I do or try cant get rid of the streaks.

Try posting in the Car Care Discussion forum. Maybe they have some pointers.

Me, I use Bounty paper towels (they're lint free) to clean and buff the windows after cleaning with a glass cleaner. Microfiber towels (or any cloth for that matter), just seems to leave streaks. Even fresh clean ones right out of the wash. Try it, you'll like it! :thumbs:

Clean with 0000 super fine steel wool. Then water and newspaper.

Distilled water if you want to be Mr. Perfect. :lol:

News paper & your favorite cleaner! Use the paper with the least amount of ink!:thumbs:

Good ole newspaper works great

No freak'n way would I ever use 0000 steel wool on the inside of my rear hatch! :nono: I'd be afraid of damaging the radio antenea or defroster. :eek: Sure it MIGHT work, but there's so many other products that will do just as good or better job!

Good ole' original Windex seems to still be one of the best out there with using newpaper to clean.

TIP On the outside of the window wipe up and down. On the inside of the window, go side to side. This way, if you see some streaks left over, you know right off, if they are inside or outside the glass.

The rag you are using needs to be free of fabric softener. Most of the time streaks are from the rags and not the cleaners. Use 100% cotton towels washed with NO bleach, NO fabric softener and a little soap.

Use micro fibre coth, no more problem. They cost a buck apiece. Get 'em at any auto store or Wally world.

Oh yeh. Forgot about that defroster thingy. :crazy:

You are right about micro fiber streaking ..if you use a softener in the dryer,dry them alone,no streaking.

Rolls Royce used to clean all of their windows with steel wool.
Used to clean cockpit conopies on a T-33 with steel wool and distilled water. Does a grat job. Buff it out with a mico towel after.
Don't get heavy handed on the inside or you'll be repainting the heating strips though.:thumbs:

The streaking comes from the paper towels. They have agents in them to bind them together and help absorb water, but they leave white streaks.
You need a good glass cleaner, and a cloth towel, or news print, which has no additives.

try this.

use your favorite cleaner to the best of your ability. once done on a dry windshield inside, take a damp towel and gently apply enough so it has a misting of water on the inside of the windshield. THEN, take a clean dry towel and buff off the moisture.

a friend told me about this technique and God almighty does it work!
