Check this out.
I was thinking of tossing my engine oil cooler in the back.
I guess if it works for the ZF
Didn't really know it needed one.

I bet it requires a near tear-down to install... but I like the look!!!!

The cooler mounted back in the spare tire well is way cool!!!

I WANT ONE!!!!

Brian,

The only problem with putting the engine cooler in the back is that it's a long way for the stock oil pump to push the oil. I'd worry about it being able to maintain pressure/volume, not to mention taking longer on startup to build up pressure. Just a thought.

there is no pressure in the manual under normal conditions... none really to speak of.

there appears to be a pump on the chassis rail. that looks more than able to handle the flow.

in the latest Vette or Corvette Fever, they add a GM Performance cooler kit on the C5 with a 6spd. Looks good... and temp sensitive. neat piece.

I just finished re-installing a ZF-6 in the Vette after 30k of hard miles. The fluid came out fairly clean... I talked with Bill at ZR-51 performance (ZF Doc) and he turned me on to using the BMW 10W-60 motor oil for the tranny. At over $11.00 per quart :crazy:, he says it'll last for the minimal amount of road course racing that I do.

Also while talking to him he mentioned about his "beam plates" for the carrier beam that connects between the tranny and the rear diff housing. I was hooked before he got to far into his expanation... it's an LSD product! (Labor Saving Device) The plates stiffen the mounting points and provide max density to the overall drivetrain. Anyway, for over $100 bucks, it beats the heck outta trying to get the damn nuts on the top of the trans/diff to stay in place while trying to tighten everything up.
