We now have available for sale, corvette C5 torque tube rebuild kits. These kits consist of all three bearings the o-ring and two rubber couplers of correct size. The bearings are new high speed bearings that exceed OEM specifications. When doing the research for these kits we did find cheaper bearings but they were not to the quality standards that we wanted them to be.

We have these kits in stock and will be shipping out right after the first of the year.

$375.00 for a complete kit with either 10mm or 12mm couplers

about a year to late for me, i now have a tq tube as garage wall art. i'll keep this in mind for the next time.

The bearings are $189 for the set of three.

how hard is the install of the bearings and bushings,Do they need to be pressed or anything?Oh ,and I need a set:thumbs:

The biggest pain is getting off the large snap ring at the end and then getting it back in.

Just make sure you mark the ends before unbolting the spindle ends or else you through the shaft out of balance.

It's good to have better than stock on such a crucial part as the TQ Tube!

Too bad it wasn't cheaper I might just buy one to do a maintenance on the TQ Tube!

I think this is a great product at a great price! One thing you guys have to think about is when you rebuild this torque tube it needs to be done as a complete rebuild. Just replacing the bearings with worn rubber U-joints is just asking for trouble. I too thought the single parts can be replaced without any problems. I ended up having to buy an entire TT assembly as a result of replacing just one part. :leaving:

I have aluminum couplings and I'm sure a lot of other high HP guys have the same. If I was overhauling my TT, I would do both bearings and couplers if they were rubber. :thumbs:

That snap ring is a major PITA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didnt think you were supposed to do them both in metal????? I thought it was one side metal one side rubber ??? I just did mine this way.

I used metal one in the rear and rubber up front. Some guys use aluminum couplers in both. The ECS drive-shaft uses two aluminum couplers.

Can a early model TT be updated to the later model with larger bolts with the kit and maybe a few extra parts??

Nope. I stayed with the M6 due to I have 410s and alot of motor and spray

I replace my old 403 with a new LME 418 also

I switched to a Z06 TT on my 98, and run one aluminum in the back and the rubber up front. It's worked pretty well for me so far. When I had the the original/10mm style, I went through the rubber couplers very quick!

Will I need to find a local shop to install the bearings or can the do it yourselfer install these bearing at home?

You'll need a bearing press, that can be bought at Harbor Freight. I considered doing that, but the press would sit mostly unused. I just removed the couplers, created some simple instructions and went to NAPA. It was done right for less than $100 shop labor. Here's a link for late model auto style. :thumbs:

Wow thats a while back. I went 9.80 on a 100 shot with that motor and a 6 spd. Best running combo I've had. It sure was simple then. Man I mis that motor!

Stupid question but are these the poly couplers, or just plain rubber ones? I am looking to do bearing and all with the poly couplers, Is this just for the plain rubber ones?
