Transmission mount plate
I wonder if any one would have the specifications on the mount adapter plate that is used to adapt a muncie transmission to the earlier mount. I would also like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy and Great New Year. Thanks, Bill

trans. mount plate
Do you mean this one-
http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?parta~partsort if the above doesn't work, Corvette Central, P/N 531304 , $16.80 I use to be a machinist and made my own but I never wrote down the measurements. Sorry |
I think it's the same one that was used in '62-only for the T10-7D tailshaft; see page 387 in Noland's book. All the vendors have them.

As cheap as that plate is, for just one plate, It's probably as cheap, and certainly easier, to just buy one from a Corvette vendor.
But, that plate is all that is needed to adapt a Muncie or 62-later T-10 (including Super T-10) to a 55-62 Vette. Tooooooooooooo easy! |
I see where several of the vendors have them, however I hate to order one $20.00 dollar part, when I have the time and equipment to make it.
I was trying to save some time on the install by having the plate made ahead, but I can make a template at the time of install and make it then. Bill |
As JohnZ posted, there is a drawing of the plate in the Noland Adams Vol 1 book on page 387. Trapezoidal plate 1/4" thick with (4) 1/2" dia.holes. Top set of holes 3.75" apart, bottom set 4.75" apart with 1.44" between sets of holes. Top corners of trapezoid have .5" radius on same centers as top holes (3.75" apart). Bottom corners have .62" radius on same centers as bottom holes (4.75" apart). Therefore plate is 2.56" tall by about 6" wide at the lower corner radii. Email me if you need for me to scan and send.
