Best header gaskets
Iron factory heads, New Hedman ceramic coated headers. 350 Chevy, aluminum or copper gaskets? any advice?

I really like the Earl's header gaskets. They are pretty pricey, but the sealing surface has replacable inserts so you don't have to replace them if you change things. They seal VERY well.

The Fel Pro 1444 is a very nice quality, metal reinforced header gasket that is also easy on the wallet for stock iron heads.

a few years ago i had a friend with a 69 400 Al Heads with hooker headers - couldnt for the life of us get the passenger side header to seal up and we tried every gasket including the $50 copper ones - even doubled them up - still couldnt get the dam thing to seal - then I asked the old guy at work if he had any ideas and he told us to just use a set of regular cheap felpro manifold gaskets (you know the individual ones), but he said to soak them in a glass of water for 15 minutes before putting them on. That was 5 years ago and they are still sealing to this day! Wouldnt have believed it if i hadnt have seen it with my own two eyes. That's all i use now.
hope this helps. |
I am real happy with the Earl's gaskets on my car.
