'89 tune-up
Time to tune-up the 33,000 mile '89, looking for suggestions (Delco or aftermarket) on plugs, wires, cap, etc. Thanks.

Been using AC Delco for years, alot of guy like NGK, stay away from the so called elite plugs...waste of money and can cause problems. As far as cap, rotor, coil, and plug wires go....I get all mine from NAPPA.
|
AC Delco, NAPA stock parts only needed

AC-DELCO, good stuff
Put AC Platinum plugs in w/a little never seeze on the threads http://www.acdelco.com/parts/sparkpl...l-platinum.jsp |
Don't the AC/Delco platinums still have the problem of the "puck" falling off?
When I had my 88 I used the regular AC/Delco plugs. Always use anti-sieze on the threads on install! Plug removal is difficult without a bunch of extensions. On my 88 I removed the AC compressor (pass side) to get at #2 & 4 eaisier. |

glad I didn't do plugs yet, I'll just have to stick w/standard AC plugs then |
Change your fuel filter too.

I have 71,000 on my 1989, and still have original plugs, replaced wires while back Delco. You know the old saying, if it works leave it alone.

A tune up on a 89 thru 91 Corvette should also include a check on the resistance of the injector coils. Spec is 16.5 +/- .3 ohms when cold. If they check fine, leave them alone. Also do not use ANY fuel injector cleaner in these year cars with stock injectors.
I agree with the recommendation of parts for the tune up. Use either GM or NAPA parts. Happy New Year! |
