Unbelievable. That's a beautiful car.

It's getting painted now. This is what it looked like this summer.

Love the pictures guys. Are you guys buying them in this condition or buying cheap and restoring?
|
That picture was taken the morning after I got mine home from buying. It's a driver paint job, a few spiderwebs on the hood, a few chips, etc. Most people here will tell you that unless you REALLY want to restore a Vette, you're money ahead buying the best you can afford... so that's what I did.
I'm restoring the interior this winter.... it wasn't up to par with the paint and body. |
I'm in no condition to buy a Stingray right now but in 2-3 years I'll be in the market for one. If you don't mind me asking, in what area are you guys buying this car for?
|
I bought mine for less than $15k but I think I got an exceptional deal. It's got a few vacuum issues, wiper door and heater. The frame and birdcage appear to be in great shape. The interior needed restored. $15k was my limit and I was willing to do some more work on the car. I basically bought the best car I could find in 3-4 months in that price range. '68s have a bit of a reputation because of all the one year parts, so I probably would have had to pay a little more for a '69.
Honestly, if you're looking to buy a chrome bumper car, this might be the best time to buy one for a long time. They're really climbing in value, and the rubber bumpers are next, I think. Nobody knows where they'll be in 2-3 years price wise, but my guess is more than today. |
