Other than a new water pump no. Check with members here or on the zr1registry im sure someone has a spare. BTW 350-500 is the norm so be prepared for the sticker shock.

I think Haibeck rebuilds them
Try Napa Auto parts

Just asking, but, how do you know if your water pump is going out? What are the tell tale signs?

with the front of the car raised the drip comes from the front center of the engine onto the balancer. It began several months ago with a drip
once each minute. Now it's quite steady even when the car isn't running.

I was asking because I now have a drip that leaves about a 50 cent piece size of coolant on the garage floor once every few weeks. Maybe three-four drips in the center between the tires...but I can't se anything and can't tell if it is from a hose/radiator or the pump. I pressure tested the system and it is fine.

Check the clearance on the downhose to the thermo, mine was rubbing on the fan cover, put a hole right through it, this is the same hose that trashed the 24hr endurance run slowing them down.

How old are your hoses, could also be a loose clamp

IS that the T shaped hose with the 90 degree bend? I am just trying ot figure out what could be leaking in the middle (water pump,Hose,Radiator)?

I paid $150 for mine at a local part store, its a rebuil but seems to be holding up just fine.

This usually what happens when a car sits for a while. If it were the water pump, you'd know it. It would leave quite a few 50 cent pieces :D

That is why I hope it is a hose leak. It only leaks a few drops every few weeks and passed a leak check..so it must be a tiny leak. I don't know what happens when a LT5 water pump goes out. When I had my 96 LT1 and the water pump went...it blew out litereally. Dexcool all over the underside of the hood and it took my optispark with it. Totaled about $1200 in damage.

Squeeze the hose and look for drops.(that sounds bad)

IT is the hose that comes of the crossover pipe and heads down i fI remember correctly, runs right boy the fan cover.

When a car sits for a while, especially going from summer to fall or winter, the hoses will react to the temp change, and a few drops will be the result. When the car is driven daily, the climate change is not much of a factor. Sometimes, it's just a matter of tightening the clamps a bit, and sometimes it stops on it's own.

LowFlight 02-04-2008 05:51 PM

Well, I went out this afternoon to back it out of the garage to put new a new tag for this year on and noticed a few more drops on the garage floor. I opened the hood and right in front of the largest pulley on the bottom center of the engine on the Black cross frame it is wet with what looks like coolant. So, I guess it is the damn water pump. Right?
