(PICS)Two American beauties straight out of Detroit!
Last Friday evening was the annual Black Tie Gala to Benefit Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia held at the Philadelphia Auto Show. The event happens the night before the show opens and allows guests to get up close and personal with the cars without the giant crowds that are usually part of the show and includes dinner and dancing.
I was honored to escort Miss America 2008 Kirsten Haglund to this year’s black tie event. Kirsten was just selected the Saturday before and this was her first public appearance. Kirsten was formally Miss Michigan and she grew up in the Detroit Suburbs. So, it was no surprise to learn that she loved cars. As the event came to a close, we snuck downstairs to the Chevrolet display. With all of the GM people gone and a bribe to the security guard (my last candy bar) we were able to take these pictures of two of the best looking things to come out of Detroit in a long time! http://www.kerbeck1.com/kirsten.jpg http://www.kerbeck1.com/kirsten2.jpg |

Great pic's. |
She's beautiful!
(Both of them) I would've been in trouble - my head would've been spinning so fast it would've started smoking - trying to focus on both of the girls (the ZR1 and Kirsten). A beautiful car and a beautiful woman - what choices! http://www.missmichigan.org/2007/missam03.jpg http://www.missmichigan.org/2007/mis...n_haglund1.jpg http://www.sawf.org/Newsphotos/Fashi...enHaglundC.jpg |

feeding frenzy ahead
The ZR1 is certainly awesome HOWEVER I think it represents a severe departure from the spirit of the Corvette. Up to now Corvettes have been accessible to most of the middle class. Everyman's sports car....even if he has to scrimp and save to own it.
The ZR1 is a wealthy man's car. It will become an onerous status symbol, and , mark my words, some ( or many ) owners will not be "Corvette people" at all....just wealthy status seekers for whom a couple hundred grand is a trifle. just my opinion, the car is great , the results may not be. |
