The Streets on April 9

We're going to the Streets on Wednesday, April 9th for the first time (usually we go to the Big Track). If the weather is anything like it was yesterday, it should be great.

I'll be there I want to run the track clockwise, counter clock is very strange points of reference all change obviously except for that little "S" turn that's better when you run it counterclockwise because you have a clear and unobstructed view.

I'll pass on the Streets. Maybe see you guys in May.

I'm trying to convince Johnny to run the full Streets of Willow configuration with the Bowl, which is the most fun part of the track. For some reason, he wants to run the anceint config. without the Bowl.

I tried to enlist Kailo's help, but so far with no luck.

Oli -- please tell these guys that SOW is way better with the Bowl, and if anyone thinks it's "dangerous", they shouldn't be driving through Turn 9 at Big Willow, which is far more treacherous.

Rich or anyone have a picture of the config. Johnny wants to run

You have to be kidding me. They are worried about the bowl?

I don't know who started that rumor, but I remember POC you to think that, too and finally about two years ago they tried the bowl and they found out it was no big deal. Then they were worried about running it CCW, but they finally got over that, too.

Running the full SoWS CW is no big deal. That curve before the bowl keeps speeds down to about 70 MPH there anyway. Have those guys tell me where you even slow down to 70 on WSIR.

130 MPH through WSIR turn eight and 100+ thorugh nine is a much more worrisome set of turns for me. I never pucker on the bowl even if I start sliding the car or missing my turn in, etc. I can't say that about WSIR turn 8 and 9.

They also need to examine what Speed Ventures, Speed Trial, Redline, Racer Factory, POC, Alpha Club, Porsche Owners Club and a dozen other track organizations know about running the bowl at SoWS. None of them have any incidents of consequence on that part of the track.

Maybe they should try it before getting weak-knee'd.

Oli

:ack: :ack: :ack:

PS. You can also put a lot more cars on track with the bowl than without it. With 15 cars on track without the bowl if feels like driving the Santa Monica Freeway at 5 PM!

I think this is what ACRA/Johnny is running on April 9:

Corrected: We Will Run Full Track With Bowl And Skid Pad Clockwise.

FLZ_Boy 03-30-2008 12:53 PM

I thought the Bowl was rather fun an advantageous for the Vette to catch some of the faster cars.

I thought blowing past the chicane was more hair raising than the bowl. The day I ran had lots of potholes around the chicane. :willy:

Richard EVO 03-30-2008 02:26 PM

Allan - Thanks for your support for trying to convince Johnny to run the Bowl. Maybe he will change his mind.

I sent Johnny a link to this thread. Give the people what they want.
