New Vette owner in Indy. Where are my new local friends?

I just bought my first vette last week and am looking for fellow Hoosier to go cruising and to car shows with this summer. It is a 02 and I guess you can say that I have crossed over from the dark side as I am a lifelong Mustang guy now learning about this 5.7. Can't wait to do my first mods and post some pics!

I'm up in Noblesville. We have some get togethers and cruises throughout the year. Keep checking back - we'll probably have some things going soon.

Welcome to the Corvette family!

I'm located down in Bloomington, but I attend a lot of Vette events throughout the year. Keep your eyes peeled for upcoming events on the forum. Some off the top of my head that you may be interested in:

- Exotic Car Club Cruises held multiple weekends throughout the spring, summer and fall (sponsored by the Midwest Sports Car Club). It's pretty cool to cruise with Lambo's, Ferrari's, Vipers, etc.

- Corvette Forum Cruise-In in Bowling Green, KY. I cruise down every year and would welcome a "wingman" for the ride down.

- DynoTech Powertrain Customer Appreciation Track Day at Indianapolis Raceway Park in October (Must be a customer of DTE Powertrain to score an invite - A MUST).

- Check out Putnam Park (West of Indy just off I-70) for various High Performance Driving Events (HPDE) throughout the year. It's fun just to go watch others put their Vettes through their paces on a beautiful road course.

Congrats and welcome! I live in Fishers, east of I-69.

GMANS C5 03-17-2008 11:46 PM

Paul, I am in Bloomington all the time for work....only in my Fusion work car.....
Where is DynoTech Powertrain located? I want to get my car dyno'ed before I start modding it and that would be cool to go to that track day at IRP. I used to go out to the Tuesday night street legal drags out there with my Mustang. Have you ever been to DynoTech powertrain?
All of those events sound like fun. I can't wait for summer!!!!

vettecop1125 03-18-2008 04:21 PM

Dynotech is in Ft. Wayne. I had my C5 worked on there - headers and tune, and my C6 - heads, cam, headers, exhaust, etc. also. I highly recommend them. Phil and his crew really know what they're doing.

NCCC high speed events are at Putnam Park on May 31 and June 1.
Corvette Troy is holding a HPDE on friday May 30 if you want to qualify for a high speed license. May 30 is limited to 100 cars. If you want more track time check into 10/10ths motorsports events and other events at Putnam park.

check these threads for more information on Putnam Park events.

I am expecting my blackout kit and screens to arrive tomorrow. Once I throw them puppies on, I will take some pics and post some before and afters. Here are a couple pics (as well as my former toy).

Congrats on the C5 and welcome to the Forum. I'm located near Southport Road and I-65. We have several get togethers monthly and, as Eric (VetteCop1125) said, watch here for the events.

As Vettecop already said, DTE Powertrain is located in Ft. Wayne. My 03 Coupe has their LS1 performance upgrade package which includes a custom cam and all the goodies to make your car scream while maintaining drivability, reliability and fuel mileage. The owner, Phil Rickard, is a top notch tuner and will get the most out of your set-up whether it be stock or highly modified. My car dyno'd at 386 RWHP and 368 RWTQ and still gets 30 MPG on the highway.

If we get the cance to meet, I'll let you get behind the wheel to experience the upgraded performance first hand. Once the weather gets nice a local car club gathers at the local Hardees every Thursday afternoon/evening and you can find me there. I also attend a car club gathering at the K-Mart parking lot down in Bedford every Saturday afternoon/evening. Here's a pic of my car to aid in spotting:

Here's a shout-out from the southside. When the good weather finally gets here, every Saturday night, 100s of cool cars meet at "The Suds" in Greenwood. :seeya

OK, here are my first pics.

Like how the fusion got the boot?! ON A RELATED NOTE, anyone wanna help move a hottub outta my garage and to my backyard?

I have yet to do any mods myself, although there were a couple things done by the previous owner. He did the Z06 brake upgrade and Corsa exhaust along with a few minor cosmetic things. I got the car from Ray Skillman, and it had just under 16k miles on it. It was VERY clean, and looked like a new car. They put it up on a lift for me to check out the exhaust and it was so clean, you could have eaten off of it. (Well, if you're a bachelor like me, you could:rofl: ) You could tell that this car had never seen rain (prior to sitting on the dealers lot).

I am awaiting my full blackout kit, letters and screen kits and I will be painting the screens black. The good news is that I just put some of my leftover mustang parts on ebay, and they are already getting a lot of attention and bids (sure am glad that I sold that stock h-pipe with cats instead of throwing it away. I still can't believe I got $145 for it) Once those close on Sunday, I will be ordering the z06 rear brake vents and ducts, cold air kit and getting the windows tinted. I also plan on painting the fuel rail covers and misc engine parts, but we will see how soon my money runs out this month.

Paul, Bloomington/Bedford sounds like a fun time. I am sure you will see me there at some point this summer. My buddy who used to work up in Milford at GM proving grounds now lives in Columbus and he has a 2000 coupe, I bet I can get him out there too. :leaving:

BTW Paul, nice ride! Is that thing lowered, or are those just bigger rims and tires (or both)? I want to lower mine (it looks like a jeep compared to most of the cars I see on here), but as you can tell in that one pic, my driveway is not cooperating with me....

vettecop1125 03-19-2008 12:29 PM

Oooooh - I need info on the wheels Paul.

Oh my; is Delco Electronics still headquartered there?

I made many a trip to the city where "vulcanized car tires were first invented"; but this was looooong ago.

Yeah it's lowered. I had DTE Powertrain do that for me when they did the mods on my car two years ago (Wow! Time has flown by!).

The wheels are 18x10 (Front) and 19x11 (Rear) which are one inch taller than the stock wheels. Lowering is the way to go!

Hey Eric... What's up?

So, you like the wheels? I had my eye on them for quite a while and finally bit the bullet a few weeks ago. They're CCW T10's with Nitto Invo tires. They cost me $4200 to my door including new tire pressure sensors and road force balancing. I hope we get a chance to cross paths again this summer. Are you planning to attend the DTE Track Day this year?

Here are a few pics of the wheels:
