Paint code for '01 wheels
 

Might consider getting my factory 01 wheels repainted if I can't find a set of CCW's before rainy season (tires are shot). Anyone know what the paint code is for the stock 01 Z06 Alcoas?

The 2001 wheels are darker...?

I'm no painter, but the discussion about this always seems to lead to the fact that one is forged and the other spun cast. It is the same paint code according to GM. I don't know anything further.

Speed Racer is correct, the paint code for all Z06 wheels is WAPB-9789.

The 2001 look darker because they were manufactured by a different process and company, so the base metal is darker. GM insisted on the same paint code as they were looking at switching to the new manufacturer before the end of the 2001 model year because of shortages in wheel production. Only after they received some samples from Speedline did they realize the color looks slightly lighter on the cast/spun wheeels than on the forged wheels.

Two different colors :)

Shoot forum member Toque a PM. He had is stock wheels painted a different color (brighter) silver and they looked great:

If the wheels are RPO N73 (Magnesium) then the paint code is WA-163D, the "stock" wheels RPO QD4 are paint code WA-9967. The Z06 grey wheels are WA-9789
