Any one had experience with soda blasting?
I have a classic car that I'd like to clean up underneath. What do ya know about soda blasting?

sand, soda, walnut, beed, glass.BLASTING,... I think they all take it off.. Beats me

Ask over in the C3 section, also in the paint section.

soda blasting is the way to go. Cleans like a mofo and isnt abrasive.

Depends on what paint company, and type of paint, you're going to use. SPI and others say never to use their Epoxy on a car that's been soda blasted. Others simply say that it gets everywhere and you can't seem to get rid of it. Do a search in the Paint section for many good tips.

Is it rusted or does it just need paint removal? If it's rusted have you thought about having it chemically dipped.

I had my front and rear urethane bumpers from my project car done with soda blasting. It does not create any heat like sand and other type of blast material so it won't warp anything. It worked great. The guy who did mine was going to do a whole vette after my bumpers were finished so I got to see the car after it was finished and it looked great it didn't hurt any body lines or critical areas cause it's not as aggressive. Plastic media has advantages over soda and usually costs about the same. Soda is basically salt and we all know what salt does to our cars if it remains in some of the seams. If you have deep rust, you will need to use traditional sandblasting for that. Most plastic blasters have both types of blasting rooms. Don't use an inexperienced shop or they can really warp the metal.

at work we do all of our cars with plastic media. It does not warp panels at all and is clean. However if you need to blast filler out then you may need those areas spotted with walnut shell or sand
