blower motor resistor?

Where is the blower motor resistor located in a 78 L82 4spd w/ac? If anyone has this information could you please help? Thanks in advance!

It sticks down into the A/C box from the top. Looks like a flat football with a wiring plug on top.

Grattitude

Thanks guys! I believe this may be my problem ( no control of blower ) , had the same problem on my wifes 04 trailblazer and that was it. I would hate to tear all that sh!t apart. I never use the ac or the heat for that matter, don't need the blower randomly turning on though. I will let you know when I tinker with it.

My 79 fan only worked on Hi-speed, the relay turned out to be bad. Another thing you might check, and it is located just above the resistor in the picture posted, but in my 79.

blower motor resistor

On my 76 when I turn the AC to the highest setting, the blower stops. I have replaced the relay I have checked the blower motor resistor and dont know what the hell Im looking at. Any ideas on why the blower stop when turned to high.

Yes the high blow has its own fuse. I'm pretty sure its under the brake master cylinder.

also check ground wire to blower motor......it should be a black wire separate from harness running from blower motor through firewall.
Good Luck

The fuse in the fuse box runs low & medium.

Paul L 07-06-2009 08:16 AM

That's the one. Mine was badly corroded and needed replacing.

I found the orange wire on the left side near the M/C but there is no fuse.

txsugar08 07-06-2009 03:55 PM

Replaced the resistor and still nothing.

txsugar08 07-06-2009 04:48 PM

Also noticed that when the switch is in the off position the blower motor still blows very low. I have replaced the switch.

txsugar08 07-06-2009 04:50 PM

No orange wire.

It's gotta be there,, but if i remember, the power take off point was moved on later years, don't know where to though. Best way to look for it is to find the power block, it's just a small metal screw down, directly (1/2") under the horn relay. It comes off red, goes to fuse, goes out org. Wires coming off of there go several places, on of them goes to the fuse. if it's not there, post your year and and question for it's location on forum.

designed that way. no CO.

No orange wire.

it goes from the fuse, then into a wire harness over to the blower motor relay.
