Best Buy Says No

I went to best buy to buy the pioneer D3 but they said they wouldn't do a install on my vette. They said they would never touch a vette, what the hell. I guess i'll have to find some where else.

Brian@RPT 05-26-2008 08:57 AM

Best Buy and Circuit City are no better than an amateur installer. The D3 will fit and check out the audio section and looks really easy......with the correct parts.

:iagree:

They suck! They hire 18 YO's that have very little exp.
Some BB/CC's have veteran installers but not many!

Its worth the extra cost to find a higher end shop that regularly does installs like this... They wont turn you away! What ever parts you don't have/ may need(i.e., adapters, harness') they'll know how/ where to get them.

They did you a favor! Don't let them touch your vette. Find a custom shop with references and experience.

I would never let a drugged out kid at Best buys ever touch my Vette let alone cut wires.

:iagree: You were lucky they were so honest about their lack of expertise.

It's not just vettes. Best Buy in Plano, TX would not do an install on my wife's Audi A4.

thatdood 05-26-2008 09:42 AM

If you were in Texas I would help you install it. It would take about an hour tops to get everything done.

I wouldn't let a Best Buy, Circuit City, whatever work on my Vette if they paid me for letting them. I had a custom shop do my work because the odds of having something go wrong decrease tremendously.

Be thankful that they were honest and know thier limitations.

:iagree: 100%! AMATEURS

I've had good experiences with Best Buy installations. Not on my C6, but me and my family have had several alarm systems, and radio equipment installed there, and they have done a great job. Plus, they warranty their work. My fathers main alarm unit went bad, and he returned it about 3-4 years later, and they installed a whole new updated system no charge. Unless you have had bad experience there, I wouldn't assume so quickly that they do bad work.

m48xhp 05-26-2008 11:12 AM

the CC i worked at was much better. would only hire installers with experience and intelligence. Had managers with like 20 years combined experience. It is likely that the guys either a)knew the car was valuable and didnt want to mess it up (cause i dont care how good an installer you are, you will break a part every now and then in car audio installation), or b) they didnt want to touch the bose system, cause it is a pain in the ass.

"Drugged out kid." Why on Earth would you say that? Many Best Buy employee's are young and some may be inexperienced but to say they're "drugged out" isn't right. A lot of young kids are pretty damn knowledgeable about electronics and computers...more than the older folks.

IMO Best Buy does an excellent job at what they do. I wouldn't take my Corvette there for a stereo installation but I might take a different vehicle there.

"Chiken S**t's"?? Not quite! I commend Best Buy for declining to do an install in a Vette. I'd rather have them be honest and refuse the job rather than having them take the job and have problems. How many shops take on work they're truly not qualified to do? Most shops like to make it sound like they're masters but in reality, very few are. Kudos to Best Buy for being honest and declining a job!

I hardly think the cost of the car has anything to do with it. Besides, it's not like a Corvette is some super expensive car anyway.
