Hood Louvers
 

I was able to purchase a C6 hood for a great price and I would like to put louvers in it to provide better cooling for track days. I would be switching the hood for the track and putting the stock one back on afterwards.
Several questions: What is the hood made of? Does anyone make a set of louvers that would be compatible with the hood? I'm ASSuming that the stock hood is the same as the Z06 hood. (Is it?)

I'm almost positive the C6 and Z06 hoods are identical. As for adding the louvers, I don't know. I would think it could be done, but I don't know if it would end up being worth it. To switch hoods any time you were going to go to the track could get to be a headache when it came time to lining them up and making sure the hood is on right. Just my $0.02.

Stock hood is fiberglass composite. Z06 hood is carbon fiber IIRC - PIA to change unless both hoods are set up with hood pins and not the spring loaded hinges that are currently in place

Actually the C6 ZO6 hood is not carbon fiber ( have on in my garage) ....it is identical to the standard C6 hood (also have one in my garage).
Only the 04 ZO6 special edition hood was carbon fiber.

Does anyone make a CF louvered hood that is naked CF, i.e. shows the weave?

We can do a bare carbon hood, but they are very limited.

Also, I think Jason of Katech has a 'naked' cf hood on his red Z06 - hood looks black.

Yes, but ACP didn't want to make any more until they get a proper autoclave.

ACP hoods = badarse.

You would have to ask them. Tell him you saw Jason's hood and want that. If enough people say it maybe they will take that into account.

I did exactly that but they're unwilling to do a "whole CF". At the moment, they're only willing to do "part" & not whole. Just got mine & currently getting painted. Will post as soon as it is ready.

The factory hood is a resin composite, the only factory carbon hoods were the 2004 C.E. Z06 and of course the new ZR1.

We do have a 'glass insert that you can cut to fit and put a center section of louvers into your hood. The piece itself is $395.

Are there any issues with water/dust/debris being thrown through the louvers?

What about rainwater ingress?
