Rear Wheel Bearing Recommendations Please

I have hopefully solved my front wheel bearing woes.... but what about the rears?

ANy recommendations, success stories, warning etc for getting decent rear bearings.

Should I just go Delco OEM C5 rears? Will C6 rears work? Are they the same? What about C6 Z06?

I know now to stay away from "OEM spec" replacements - learned the hard way that does not mean "OEM spec" ;)

Thanks,

Paul

:iagree:

Jury is still out on these, but they are an outstanding vendor who stands behind their products. I am running them in the rear of my C4 and am pleased with Van Steel so far.

I don't believe they have C5/C6 rear bearings out yet. I have their fronts on already.

I am leaning towards GM Performance bearings.

What problems did you experience with the OEM spec bearings? What brand were they?

.

RC45 07-25-2008 04:03 PM

They were supposedly Timken, but I think they were just clones repackaged.

They failed with 1600 street miles and 25 track laps. The flanges didnt fail, the bearing assemblies developed free play.

My good original bearings were replaced at 88,000 (still felt rock solid) odd miles just as a precaution, and so let me have a working backup set to take ot the track in the spares box.

I have good hopes for the Van Steele, but only time will tell.

I still have a set of the GM racing bearings as backup, but I don't believe they sell them to the public.....someone let us know if that's changed....
