Lifting it at the track
 

For those that drive their Z's to the track for HPDE or similar, what do you take with you in order to raise your car so that you can bleed brakes or change pads while at the track? Are you lifting the whole car or just one side/end at a time?

this is a must have at the track. :D

Yeah, I've got one in the garage at home but haven't yet figured how to fold it up so it fits in the back of the Vette! It would probably exceed the rated cargo capacity of the car anyway ;)

Along those lines - when I moved a couple of years ago, I did move the 4-post lift (Autolifters) 25 miles on the back of a friend's car trailer w/o disassembling it! Saved a huge amount of time and effort.

:iagree: Make yourself at jacking puck. that way you do not need to drive the car up on blocks to get a jack under the front or rear. ;)

There is a a gusset on the frame directly under the side mirror. That is the point you can use to jack the car and lift the entire side to change both wheels at the same time.

That's ridiculous! Everybody knows you can't put more than a two post lift in the trunk of Z06. :D

Lifting it at the track
 

With speed bleeders installed, you don't have to lift the car to bleed brakes, and you can do it by yourself. It's a lot faster with a helper, though. You do get a little dirty, and waiting until they cool down is a must. Turning the front wheels lock to lock helps get access, too. If your wheelwells are stuffed with huge tires, this might not work. I'm running nearly stock C5 (non Z06) tires.

I have an aluminum racing jack that I got from Harbor Freight. Low rise, fits under the car easily, get's the side or an end up, whatever I need. They sometimes have them on sale for $69 or $79. I bleed my brakes before every track event, so rarely have to worry about that at the track. But when I change tires/wheels, I lift one side at a time, whole side, not just a corner.

p.s. An even better investment than the jack, I picked up a Goodyear 24V impact driver, 200 ft-lbs. torque, at Pep Boys two years ago for $59 on sale. It makes the job of changing tires a snap, whether at home or at the track.
