Help with service traction control, active handling and ABS!!
 

Well now as soon as I start my 02 vert with a six spped I get "service active handling....service traction control....sercice ABS".... I have changed the rotors a year or so ago and it seemed to started then. It was just every once in awile but not as soon as I start my car I get these alarms! Where do you start looking for these problems?

pull the codes from your dtc and that should help point you in the right direction. mine is doing the same thing with a 1214 code and i am having to send my ebcm out to be rebuilt. i had a friend that was getting the same warnings you and i both are so i had him pull the codes and it turned out to be a wheel sensor code so i had him check the wires and one had been damaged. he was able to repair it and it was a free fix. if you are not sure how to pull the codes do a search on it. most of the codes are listed so you should be able to find your problem quite easy.

Display the DTC
 

You need to display your DTC data. If you don't know how to do it go here ....

When the AUTOMATIC display completes it will enter MANUAL mode. In that mode display and write down what codes you have.

A code looks like this ...... P 1234 C

The first letter will be either a P, B, C, or U ..... indicating which system the code is for.

The following 4 numbers are the code

The last letter will be a C or an H (sometimes both).

Post the ENTIRE code (as in the example ..... P1234C), and list ALL the codes found.

i was chasssing down this little bug a while ago. check your brake fluid, i was a hair low and was triggering that sensor on the master.

OK...that sounds like a plan also! Thank you for any help....

My owners manual states that any problem with ABS will set all three of those warnings (ABS, TC and AH). Mine has done it several times.

Let's see what codes he has .....

If he has a wiring harness problem that makes a wheel speed sensor appear to be failing ...... that will cause all 3 systems (ABS, AH, and TC) to shut off. Sending his EBCM off to a 3rd party won't fix the issue. It may be as cheap and simple a fix as cleaning corrosion from a connector to the sensor.

POST THE CODES ....

The EBCM is pretty good at self diagnosis .... the codes will make it pretty clear where/what the problem is.

IF its the dreaded 1214C, then +1 for absfixer.com. Just had my EBCM rebuilt (after checking grounds, etc.) and it took care of the problem.

Black Z06 you are absolutely correct about first pulling codes.
BUT...
My post is 5 posts after you and others have told him to first pull the codes and which codes relate to ECBM problems....

Perhaps I should have repeated... "pull your codes and if you have these codes..... then....." But Red LT4 had already thanked you for your advice to first pull the codes.

I was merely trying to point Red LT4 in a couple of cost saving directions should the codes indicate that he has an ECBM problem...

No problem .... I was just trying to repeat that the best thing to do is pull the codes .....

At least you weren't telling him that changing his diff fluid will fix his EBCM problems .... :D :rofl: :D :rofl:

I just PM'd Red LT4 my recently updated tutorial on his problem...in case he needs it. trussme

I just battled this problem (hopefully over) but I believe my code was 1255. I cleaned all the connectors and frame mounts but broke a couple bolts when unbolting them. When I remounted to the new location i didn't scrape the paint off the frame. When I was finished I took it for a good ride and it was fine. The next day driving to work I had to pull over twice for reduced power. Had the battery and alternator tested and they were fine. So I re-read some long posts and someone stated to make sure the frame was clean and to use a star washer so it bites into the frame. Semi-long story short, today I drove it to and from work with no codes or engine lights. I believe it was the ground next to the battery. I think that my recently added battery cover will help prevent water from making its way down to the ground by the battery. There usually are a few water spots on it.

Maybe you won't have to replace a hub like I just finished doing tonight. -Got it done BlackZ06. No codes, everything is clear now :thumbs:

I had a short in mine, and when I checked the codes everything pointed towards the driver's side rear wheel. I started digging and I found the ABS wires coming out of the hub frayed and damaged. I tried splicing them back together, but it didn't fix the problem. I had to replace the hub (Only fix in the case) and it's doing fine now. Cost me about $150 and a hole lot of work. It was worth it though cause I have my ABS and traction control back now :thumbs:
