I want to see a comparison between this unit and the Valentine1.

No comparison really...This unit uses GPS to block out false alarms. The Valentine does not even have a method to block out false alarms. The Valentine is just your everyday (yesterday's technology radar detector) that has a claim to fame of the directional arrows. The only thing you can really compare it too is the Escort 8500, that would be more of a like to like comparison. Comparing the Valentine to the Escort 9500 ix is not really a fair comparison (for the Valentine).

Do a search on Google, there is some info out there but not much as it just is not a fair comparison.

See ya,

Jim:cheers:

sorry man. i think the arrows and bogey counter win hands down.
even with GPS this one still just goes beep.
i do wonder about a situation where you have two x band radars at a mall opening doors and a cop with an x band. i think the 9500 will tune them all out where the V1 will tell you there are three radars instead of the two you see every day.

can anyone confirm this?
thanks.

Update: Just took a nice 1200 mile round trip from Navarre to Sarasota and the Escort worked flawlessly. It picked out all the staties, FDOT cars, and even a couple local boys skipping down the interstate. The Escort was able to pick up signals from the front and the rear effectively. I am not going to say it saved me, as I only drive 5 to 10 over the limit at any given time, but it certianly helped keep me aware of who was where. It was also I joy to drive around Sarasota and have the Escort lock out all of the false alerts and know they will be stored for the next time I head down there. The volume reduction feature is great. You get a couple of loud beeps for the initial hit and the detector turns itself down so it isn't blowing your eardrums out. It also lets you know the strength of the signal with the number of beeps so I could keep my eyes on the road. The range was impressive, picking up radar from distances well beyond my eyesight. So far the Escort has proved itself more than worthy. Of note, I did get hit with laser one time and the Escort has a different tone for it which I wasn't expecting, but was nice to know it could pick it up. The suction cup mount and inivisicord remained in place and are in no way intrusive to normal daily driving. The Escort directions instruct you to mount the unit against the windshield, which the suction cup mount does not allow for, but it doesn't seem to have any ill effects. I also made sure to mount it so the rear view sensor for the Escort wasn't blocked by the mirror.

I ordered the Escort from southerncarparts on Monday and recieved it by Wed. It took about 15 seconds to hook up the invisicord to my rearview mirror. The detector has already locked out all of my local false signals. It also had no problems picking up the local sherrif as he drove by blazing radar in the other lane on good old 98. I have a long trip down I-75 planned for Thanksgiving so we will see how it works on the interstate.

This detector is the best. I really like it. I did not get the invisicord with my order, I received the cigarette lighter cord instead, this is not a good option as the cord dangles down from the console and is a pain to deal with.:smash:

I ordered the invisicord and am awaiting its arrival. But apart from this and Escort not including the download connector attachment to upgrade the unit from the Web, it is a fine piece of engineering.:cool:

No Jim, I got it from a non-member dealer. I should have bought it from you and I would not have had to chase around looking for what I should have gotten in the original order.

Thanks though.
