where you getting the lexan one from? |
So was it the aero of the coupe vs 'vert that had you change your mind? Also I was curious, does extra weight affect the top speed?
|
I think you made the right choice. Transplanting that motor in a vert would have been a big job. Besides that if you do manage a record run it can now be officially attributed to a ZR-1. Keep us informed on your progress - especially the tech stuff/mods.

you have mail!

LOCO "Besides that if you do manage a record run it can now be officially attributed to a ZR-1"
WHAT, Manage! Second is first loser!!!!! What changed my mind was seeing that 200 # of lead on the right part of the frame is how I need to handle Keeping hooked up over 220. I am cutting the weight on the car that is placed high, like the rear deck and Hood. then putting the weight back in the right places. |

It's not a measurable amount...especially at very high speeds. F=ma or a=F/m, but acceleration at top speed is zero making mass an insignificant factor. Top speed is mainly a function of aero drag with HP required being a cubed function of velocity. There are other terms in the equation and mass is present in one of them, but it's a very small number at very high speeds...the aero drag number is the predominant term. Small changes in a small number within a group of summed numbers has an insignificant impact on the total number. I think the one word answer was better. |
you actually need to add weight as low in the car as possible. Alot of the 300 mile per hour cars have 1/2 metal plates for floor boards, in a attempt to keep the 6 inch wide tires from spining. many of these cars weigh over 5000#.

Well its time to update project money dump.:willy:
Decided to run the Dana 36 with a 2.59 gear. I Dropped the motor off at Corey Hendersons to build somthing new and strange in the ZR1 world.:willy: The cage worK is looking more extensive, and hence more costly:willy: Got the 15 x 4.5 wheels and Landspeed tires ordered from cowboy Jone,s thanks to Carl Johansson tip. Got the coil overs for the front, and need to figure out how to wedge them in to the shock towers. But most important to each and everyone of you, I am Hosting the Texas Childerns Hospital Bonneville Run for the money. It will go like this. Each and everyone of you, ZR1 breathern . Being commited to the pack like behavior, will Pledge a dollar amount for each mph I exceed 200 mph. Then at the end of speed week, you will be notified of my speed where, you will then send a check or pay pal to the Texas childerns hospital. By the time this happens they will have a nice website up to take your money as painless as possible. Please, note, the record is 230, and I don't like odd numbers I hope to do some real good for the TCH. |
You can count me in on that. The TCH performs miracles everyday.
Just remember one thing................stay safe and keep the shiney side up.:flag: |
Thanks 4cefed, yep, they turn no child away! And they take care of many many special need childern. Major focus on Autism right now.
LOL. Thats what the 10 pt cage and full containment seat and Hauns device, fire suite and two fire systems is for. But as they say if you run at Bonneville its not if a spin will happen , its just a matter of when. |
Congrats on chopping up a legend, thats fn awesome.

Look on the bright side,he could have bought your car and cut it up:thumbs:
|
The Car I purchased was very ratted out, 70,000 miles, lots of drag racing. It was lowered to much, and the fiberglass on the floor pan, is toast. In reallity I am honoring the legend, by taking it to the track where it belongs in the first place. besides It just makes yours more valuable by reducing the total count ;)
