Scott Shafiroff Ultrastreet Engines - opinions, please

Hello.

I could use some advise: I have an offer on table for their Ultrastreet SBC engines. The package and the numbers look very impressive and the communication with sales rep has been quick and good. Prices are prices but we only live once or so, so...:D

Do you have experiences, good or bad, of their engines?

i have owned 2 of his ultra street engines . they are first qualityand a great bang for the buck . i have sold both cars ,the last one a 90 vet i know is still running awsome .when i sold it it the motor had 50 k miles on it and was running super .i believe there is 75+k on it now and still running . they are in my opinion great people who care about every customer they have . if they did lt-5 motors i would buy one tomarrow . hope this helps .

Currently have a Bill Mitchell hardcore racing 509, If I was going to do a crate motor again, would absolutely look at the Ultra street series, have heard all good responses. Good luck with your decision.

I've only heard good about them.
A good indicator is people all over the country buy them.

Attention to detail and precise machine work are trademarks of the better builders.

If I was going for the max 427 small block I would look at the new world products LS block and use the latest heads designed by chevy. I have the old style 434 small block and to get comparable air flow you have to use 12 or 15 degree heads with 272 cc's intake ports.

The other thing is I would not stop at just 427 or 434 in a small block. when the 441 or 447 is the same cost. The LSX at 454 - 472 ci

When I have my foot on the floor in 4-5 gear I would like another 30+ foot pounds added on to my 650 hp motor

I hear you on that:thumbs:
I think for the money they should put out a bit more power.
I have the 434 687 hp and I think I could have done better with a turbo for street and track use.I have to use c-14 and that is not the way for the street.I have cut the fuel by 1/2 race and street fuel and the motor will live for the street but still not enough power for the money.
I would go with their blower or turbo motor.

The GM LS engine family came with 15 degree heads..
