And now, without further adieu, delay and jokes....I bring you the
Corvette C4/C5/C6 Corvette Shootout.

The National Muscle Car Association, the most recognized muscle car series in the US, is pleased to announce that it will host a very special C4/C5/C6 Corvette Shootout at its Bowling Green, Kentucky, event May 1-3, 2009. Everything Corvette can be found in Bowling Green - the National Corvette Museum and GM’s Corvette plant.

The NMCA’s C4/C5/C6 Corvette Shootout will be a special “event within an event,” at the NMCA’s Bowling Green, KY, motorsport show. The Shootout will attract the fastest turbocharged, supercharged, nitrous-powered and naturally aspirated Corvettes from around the county to compete on a national stage. They will join the NMCA’s already large base of muscle car racers and enthusiasts. Other exciting features of this NMCA event include a huge auto show and shine, a giant manufacturers’ midway/swap meet and a 300+ mph jet car!

C4/C5/C6 Corvette Shootout Classes:

The Corvette Rumble class will pair C4, C5, and C6 Corvettes against each other in an all-inclusive index-style race format. C4 Corvettes will all run together on Saturday as a group. C5 and C6 Corvettes will also run together in their respective groups. This will build a team atmosphere for each generation of Corvette competitor. Sunday class eliminations will mix together all Corvette Rumble competitors to race each other for the class championship.

Corvette Rumble Class Payouts and Awards:

Winner: $2,000 + Jacket + Plaque + TBD Grand Prize
Runner-Up: * $1,000 + Plaque

Quarters: * $250

The Corvette Rumble class is designed for high performance, stock-type suspension Corvettes. Specific rules to be announced over next few weeks.

C4/C5/C6 Corvette Shootout Specialty Awards:

The C6 Corvette is arguably the finest muscle car ever produced by the Big Three. The C5 Corvette is revered as the modern day ’69 Camaro because of its awesome power, affordability, and huge value. The C4 Corvette ushered in a completely new era of Corvette performance and appearance. C4/C5/C6 Corvette owners are proud, passionate, and they like to lay claim to their exploits…especially on the Corvette forums!

The NMCA will present the following specialty awards on the Saturday of the C4/C5/C6 Corvette Shootout for each generation of Corvette – C4, C5 and C6 (12 Winners Total):

Fastest Naturally Aspirated Plaque + Jacket
Fastest Nitrous Assisted Plaque + Jacket

Every NMCA event features older muscle cars competing in the Nostalgia Muscle Car, Nostalgia Super Stock, True Street, and Open Comp classes.

Your tempting me :toetap: This is bad.. the mind is wandering

REDGAR 12-19-2008 07:16 PM

El that means it is mixed index. Likely it will be like 8.50 to 15.0 in half second increments like they did at Atco and Memphis

Jay, ya, there will be drinking

Mack, that means you might be out of luck. Not sure if they are going to more rules but basically means IRS

ARCH 12-19-2008 07:37 PM

WOW, I missed that. I guess I need to go back and read everything again. :D
OK, I read it. That is a huge bonus for someone that owns an older Vette.

One thing I did not like about Beach Bend, The sun sets at the end of the track. The glare is so bright that the tree flashed and I did not see it. The person I was racing also did not see the flash of the tree. Very friendly track. This was in 1997 or 1998. I know the track did not move, so everyone will need to be careful. SAFETY FIRST!!!

Buick GS Nationals are held there also in May. Corvette plant, National Corvette Museum and a nice 15 hour drive.
