Hwy MPG for C6
I have heard rumors of up to 30 mpg on a stock C6....is this true????
Yep, I get about 27-29 cruising at 80mph.
It is for me. 2007 C6 convertible, on a 1600-mile trip (nearly all highway) I averaged 30.8 mpg.
Averaged over 25mpg on trip to Pheonix from Napa. That's with two, uh large adults, our two doxies and their travel kennel, a medium sized cooler and luggage for 2 for a week...and doing 90mph in Arizona with the Valentine on. High tankful was over 27mpg.
That is incredible, wow! I wonder why GM claims "only" 27 mpg highway, when you guys are exceeding that....way above 60 mph?
God I can't wait to get my hands on a Vette. |
I think those are EPA figures and actually my sticker had a 25mpg EPA highway sticker on it. I think they still do their testing in a lab, either that or they are trying to make people feel good about buying an efficient car that is advertised at 29-32 mpg.
Yup. I averaged 30.7 mpg on the entire trip from the NCM all of the way to Boise, Idaho. That averaging (average speed in the DIC) of 67.2 mph.
I do a 185 mile trip pretty routinely and generally burn 6 or so gallons so roughly 30 MPG. This is on an MN6 non-Z51 coupe 70 MPH on the highway with some slower parts thrown in through some rural cities. With the top off and windows down I generally get about 1-2 MPG less, but still good none the less. I cant complain about the highway mileage at all. Better than all my Subaru's.

My fuel selection philosophy hinges around what type of driving I do. Open highway (interstate) with a planned destination I run regular grade fuel 87 octane, but if I know I have town driving and it is time to fill up I put 93 octane for stop and go performance and driving hard on the interstate. Corvettes are the only hi performance sports car that does not have a gas guzzler tax on the window sticker. Hope this helps. Mike |
i drove from SF to tracy couple weeks ago. about 130 miles round trip. averaged about 27 mpg going 85 mph. but normally i only get 18mpg combined. to much idling in city driving.
I know I get like 25mpg when I do long trips on the freeway. Of course I usually hit traffic which is why it isn't better. I know the DIC has said that I was getting 29mpg when I was going 85 so I say that the rumors are true.
i have see 29 ..but then i start smashing the gas and it goes down.
I am only getting 23 MPG with 06 A6 F55 with Z51 sway bars

z51 2008 6 spd routinely see 23-25 MPG...have gotten 27 once...never saw 30, but others have...
07 Z51 A6. I got 31.3 on one tank doing an average 74 mph. I normally get 29+ on a routine 1650 mile trip averaging 78 most of the way. I think the secret is cruise control. A tail wind doesn't hurt.

I'm happy with the 20 mpg I get driving city/country roads. One of these days I test it on the highway. I expect to see 25 to 30.
