C4 to C5 brake conversion

Does anyone still make the adapters to put C5 on a 95 C4? I just tried the phone number on the website for electro-dynamics and it wasn't in service. Any help would be aprrecaiated, and I'd REALLY like to talk to someone who'd done the conversion themselves.
By the way, Ive only been on the forum for a few weeks, and this is great! I enjoy the info and the whole scene.
thanx

Welcome to the forum! There are several here who have done the swap, so I'm sure they'll chime in with where they got the brackets. There was actually a guy selling calipers, brackets, and pads (I think) over in the C4 Parts For Sale section. Pretty decent price, if I remember correclty. They may still be for sale.

Found it: calipers, brackets, and lines for $250 + shipping: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-p...and-lines.html

I believe so, there's a good thread over there about it.

I'll look and see where my adapters came from. Ended up with a few minor fitment issues that worked themselves out once the rotor ground off the bracket.

To be honest, the stock brakes work for 99% of the population. Unless you're headed to the track for some DE events, I'd probably pass.

We have them in stock give us a call.

I have 5 spoke mags and asstecics tells me to stay with all the same calipers!:toetap:

I think he means that maybe the calipers won't have sufficient clearance on those rims. It is very possible. To say though that C5 FRONT calipers will not fit on a C4 is incorrect - you just have to have the right hardware.

If he meant the rear C5 calipers cannot fit without removal/modification of the parking brake, then there is validity to his statement.

:iagree: Here is another source: LINK. This conversion is very well-documented and has been done by many members of this same forum. One seller of adapter brackets used to be a member also, Jeffvette, as aforementioned. You can find him on corvette-guru.com now, username Jeffvette.

Here is even a CAD drawing in PDF form of the custom adapter bracket (from forum member Eike of Germany): http://www.corvetteforum.de/userfile...6_c5-brake.pdf.

What exactly did Merle say? Word for word? I find it hard to believe a vendor of C4-->C5 brake adapters would say you cannot convert them.

I've ordered my brackets from Merle, and they fit fine. The problem is the sawblade wheels didn't fit. If your wheels are the same specs as the c5 then they will fit.

C5/C6 calipers & rotors fit okay with 17" A-mold wheels.
I also used Jeffvette's adapter brackets. Very nice nickel plated hardware and came with all the necessary bolts and washers.

Bought my adapter brackets from Jeff. Worked perfectly; direct bolt-on.

I certainly appreciate the input. I have the parts, along with hawk hps pads on the way. I'll post my results in a few weeks. Thanx

Thanks for that. I think I am going with the C5 brakes.

Exactly what I am after.

Did you feel the brakes were improved with that set-up?

Well, I changed alot of things at once. I replaced a completely worn out set of stock pads with Hawk HPS, replaced the stock rotors with Baer Eradispeed 2pc, and added braided steel lines...all at the same time I converted to the C5 setup. So, yeah they felt better, but that may have simply been the pads & braided lines! I do believe that these (C5) brakes are far more resistant to heat fade during HPDEs now, though.

If I had it to do over again...I would.
